Did G1 Ravage ever speak in the cartoon? Mopboi and Ro Tersey argue it out in this Halloween 2000 edition of Radio Free Cybertron, dated October 30, 2000. Rattrap007 retires from trivia and starts reviewing Japanese figures, beginning with Beast Wars Neo Cohdra. Crystal anchors a Halloween News from Cybertron, and one last listener gets credit for the trivia contest from two weeks ago.

News from Cybertron

Crystal, the haunted stand-in anchor, reports Cybertron’s first Halloween. Everyone dresses as Autobot Wheelie. Wheelie goes as the Headless Horseman, and Unicron comes as his head. With every Cybertronian out trick-or-treating, nobody is home to hand out candy. Optimus Prime promises energon candy for all when he’s president, and Galvatron counters with house arrest.

Trivia

One more listener gets credit for the trivia question from two weeks ago. The answer is a scene from More Than Meets the Eye in which Ravage relays the location of the Autobots’ rocket fuel base to Megatron.

Did Ravage Speak in G1?

That clip sets up a debate between Mopboi and Ro Tersey. One side says Ravage clearly speaks to Megatron in his own voice and paraphrases what Hound said, so he can talk. The other says his only voice is growling, and the line could come from something like a speech synthesizer. They bring in Ravage’s comic book dialogue and his rebuilt Beast Wars form, which talks plenty. Megatron’s “excellent work, Ravage” gets cited by both sides, and the debate ends unresolved.

Toy Review: Beast Wars Neo Cohdra

Rattrap007 is handing trivia back to Brian and switching to reviews of Japanese figures from Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo and Car Robots. First up is Cohdra, the Beast Wars Neo cobra. The snake mode runs about a foot long with a fat hood, and the arm gun doubles as a venom-spitting squirt gun. Transformation is easy, and the robot stands six or seven inches with good articulation and a very poseable tail. His only gripe is the lack of a traditional hand. He gives Cohdra 9.5 out of 10 and says the Saberback versus pack is well worth $20 to $25. He paid $18 on eBay.

Listeners can vote on his next review: Break, Dead End, Wolfgang (Howlinger in Japan), Beast Wars II Galvatron, Bazooka or God Magnus.

The show closes with the Disney Haunted Mansion song “Grim Grinning Ghosts.”
