Takara’s Act 3 G1 PVCs surfaced online, and John DeLuna spends most of this week’s ATT Buzz picking them apart. The lineup includes Raiden, Chromedome, Ironhide, Soundwave, Bumblebee with Spike, Sixshot and a six-part Fortress Maximus. The reissued Takara G1 Megatron has also reached the US. Takara’s Act 3 G1 PVCs Revealed
A picture of Takara’s Act 3 PVCs showed up online this week. Raiden is a head or two taller than the others, which pleases John even though he finds the design ugly. He calls Chromedome mundane and says the Ironhide PVC uses Optimus Prime’s proportions instead of the cartoon’s burly build. He dislikes Soundwave’s pinched-in knees and likes the Bumblebee and Spike pairing. Sixshot looks plain to him. [Source: not found]
Six Fortress Maximus parts replace the clear variants, building a figure two to three times the size of the rest. John hopes Unicron gets the same treatment someday. The chase figures appear to be Movie Megatron, a translucent figure mid-reformatting into Galvatron, and a wounded Movie Optimus Prime. He calls neither worth chasing. From the same photo, he slams the Act 2 Grimlock’s teeth and Matrix Rodimus’s translucent plastic.
Takara G1 Megatron Reissue Arrives in the US
The Takara reissue of G1 Megatron has reached the US and is selling on eBay for around $80. Fears that customs would stop the gun-mode toy turned out to be a false alarm. John calls it a $10 toy. [Source: not found]
Spooky Auctions a Beast Wars Metals Jaguar Test Shot
Spooky is auctioning a test shot of the Beast Wars Metals Jaguar, Ravage in the US, on eBay. John says the finished Ravage is worth buying under $30. He also asks where Tripredacus Agent is, since it reportedly shipped three months ago but hasn’t been spotted at Walmart. [Source: not found]
The Touch Music Video Released
A music video for Stan Bush’s “The Touch” from Transformers: The Movie is out. John refuses to watch it. Brian notes it is also available in the archives on tfradio.net. [Source: not found]
Brian Answers a Listener on RFC’s Negativity
Brian reads an e-mail from listener Danny objecting to comments in a recent show and to a broader negative tone. Brian takes responsibility for airing the clip. He agrees RFC has been negative for about a year and pledges to stay positive. He points to Robots in Disguise and sane toy prices as reasons for optimism. He won’t dictate tone to the unpaid crew but hopes they follow his lead.
Trivia
Last week’s clip was from Day of the Machines. Prowl, Debbie and Dexius R got it right. A new clip is played.
Point the Blame
Hooper X returns and argues, as a deliberate left-field topic, that another 1980s toy line beat G1 Transformers. He cites its uniform scale, vehicles and playsets, easy repairs and customizing, and a single long-running comic writer. He promises a Trannies reaction next week.
Bad Japanese Dub Line of the Week
This week’s clip comes from episode 26 of Headmasters, with the line “Men don’t cry, they only get stronger.”
Ask the Computer
The Computer launches his own listener-question segment without Brian’s approval. His first answer covers a listener building custom robots from model kits.
The Trannies Results Arrive Wednesday
Brian looks forward to Wednesday’s Trannies results. He also recommends Weezbucket.com’s chat log with David Sobolov, voice of Depth Charge in Beast Wars. Feral Scream Part 1 made Depth Charge Brian’s favorite Beast Wars character.
