Lead Found in Transformers Candy

The California Department of Public Health warns that some cheap imported Transformers-branded candy contains lead. One host notes California’s standards run stricter than federal ones, but the crew agrees no level of lead is acceptable. Rob’s girlfriend bought him a package at Dollar Tree. He told her not to eat it and is keeping it sealed as an artifact, alongside his still-sealed BotCon 2002 Rhinox sucker. [Source: California Department of Public Health]

Punch-Counterpunch Back on Sale

The Transformers Collectors Club’s Punch-Counterpunch set is up for sale again at transformersclub.com, and a few Rapido figures remain. [Source: Transformers Collectors Club]

New Power Core Combiners Images

New Hasbro images show upcoming Power Core Combiners, including a disappointing Double Clutch repaint. One host finds Searchlight better than expected, and the crew jokes about Backwind’s name. They want Leadfoot and hope for a Slapdash-style blue repaint. Power Core Combiners five-packs are now turning up at Walmart. [Source: Hasbro]

Transformers 3 to Film in Washington, D.C.

Transformers 3 plans to film on the National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. One host works two blocks from the National Mall and plans to watch. A casting call oddly asked extras whether they own a car. Separately, a girlfriend’s former co-worker reports the studio ordered $9,000 worth of office chairs for the film. The crew also discusses Alan Tudyk of Firefly, who apparently joins the cast as a Sector 7 agent, and jokes about how long he will last. [Source: not found]

More Transformers Prime Cast Names Announced

More voice cast names for Transformers Prime have been announced, without roles. The crew calls the cast a head-scratcher. Apart from Frank Welker, Peter Cullen, Josh Keaton and Kevin Michael Richardson, most are live-action actors. [Source: not found]

Aimee of The Underbase on Moonbase 2 will tweet live from Auto Assembly as @ladyofwreck.

This Day in Transformers History

At listeners’ request, This Day in History returns. On August 10, 2006, the Kiss Players storyline began in Japan. The crew calls the robots-and-girls concept creepy, though it admits the monster story underneath had promise. On August 9, 1989, Transformers: The Movie was released in Japan.

How Do You Display Your Collection?

JD Church has just moved into a new house and hopes to finally display figures. Rob keeps a few shelves by his bed, including a Masterpiece, with the rest boxed in his basement. John DeLuna, now married, keeps three shelves of Classics, Universe and G1-style figures in his office. Exvee keeps only Classics on permanent display, while one host trades seats with a Brave Maximus too big for any shelf. One host recalls a single-days mantle of Megatrons on one side and Primes on the other. The crew trades tips on corner shelves and wall brackets.

Twitter Theater

Rob picks an old-school Trent Troop CGI fan video set to Rammstein’s “Du Hast.” The crew asks why a Dinosaucer appears and why Reflector shoots bubbles at Grimlock. They credit the CGI as good for its time.

Closing

The crew blames the weather for the episode’s lack of live video. They point listeners to the RFC archive of shows back to 1999, and Rob shows off a bacon wallet from John DeLuna.
