This February 8, 2012 episode, hosted by JD Church, also covers Hasbro’s statement on the canceled US Transformers Prime First Edition releases. The crew previews Toy Fair 2012. Rob Springer asks why toy fans are judged more harshly than sports fans.

Fall of Cybertron Bruticus Revealed

Game Informer first showed Swindle and Brawl, and its digital edition added the first look at Onslaught, Vortex, Blast Off and the combined Bruticus. Bweebum says the digital magazine’s bonus galleries are worth it. All five are deluxes, with hands and feet built in for very little kibble. The combined weapon is built from their guns. The crew worries the photo shows Bruticus mistransformed, with one arm too long. [Source: Game Informer]

The crew plans to buy the set no matter what, but worries about case packs, since deluxes ship eight to a case and Swindle may be the hardest to find. One host suggests a listener trade exchange when the figures arrive.

Hasbro Explains Canceled Prime First Edition Releases

Hasbro said final product was not produced for US release of the second wave of Prime First Edition deluxes, the Voyagers and the Entertainment Pack, and it apologized. The crew guesses Toys R Us backed only the first deluxe wave. They note Takara’s release helps Hasbro recover the mold costs and doubt the toys will turn up at discount stores without US packaging. Takara Prime Arms Micron Weapons

The crew looks at Takara’s Prime Arms Micron weapons, which combine. They joke that in Transformers, gun plus gun plus gun equals sword. Captured Prey has the capsule Mini-Cons on preorder for $4 each, though the sword set comes with the deluxe toys. [Source: not found]

Liokaiser Knockoff at Big Lots

One host spotted a Liokaiser knockoff at Big Lots, sold in two-packs for about $4 each with one different limb and no head.

Comic News

In a recorded segment, Aimee says there is no Transformers comic this week because of a five-Wednesday month. She suggests catching up with the Classics volumes ahead of Regeneration One, the Last Stand of the Wreckers hardcover and the reprinted Hearts of Steel, which has a new cover. More Than Meets the Eye #2 arrives next week, and Autocracy is on the iPad.

Chat Room

John DeLuna relays that a third party is making a Hearts of Steel Starscream biplane. The crew also mocks a third-party screaming Devastator head for TFC Hercules. Wheeljack and Soundwave went up on ToysRUs.com for $15 each, and Soundwave sold out quickly.

TF Barbecue

In a recorded segment, Rob Springer talks about fan frustration, from the Collectors’ Club server crash during the Drift preorder to empty toy shelves. He points out that sports fans can paint their bellies and fight in bars over a game and it’s acceptable. A Transformers fan who is upset about a toy is told to get a life.

Toy Fair 2012

In a recorded message, Brian invites listeners to RFC’s all-day Toy Fair 2012 coverage, Saturday, February 11, from about 11 a.m. Eastern. Bweebum will report live from New York. One host wants to see Bruticus transformed correctly, and Exvee wants more Generations figures. Fall of Cybertron Jazz, Shockwave and a new Optimus Prime are already known, and fans hope for Grimlock. Bweebum is curious about Optimus Maximus and will also cover Playmates, Bandai and Mattel.

RFC Notes

Superhero Time will stream its 100th episode live on February 20.
