Transformers Ultimate Gift Set Images Revealed

Big Bad Toy Store posted images of the G2-themed Transformers Ultimate Gift Set, now a mass-market release rather than a Walmart exclusive. It includes deluxe G2 Optimus Prime and Jazz, plus Legends Starscream as Thundercracker and Legends Optimus Prime as Motormaster, with weapons. One host is weirded out that G2 Optimus has both a G1 and a G2 Autobot logo. One host likes Motormaster, while another is tired of Optimus Prime molds repainted as Motormaster. The set is about $40. First Look at eHobby’s Shattered Glass Soundwave vs. Blaster

The Solar Requiem set pairs Shattered Glass Blaster and Soundwave, built on the Soundblaster mold, with Slugfest, Ratbat, Ramhorn and Rewind and Eject. Slugfest hasn’t been released since G1. A fifth gold cassette may be included, which one host thinks is based on a mail-away Solarbot from G2 Go-Bot packaging mock-ups. It sells for about 13,900 yen and will come to U.S. fans through the Collectors’ Club around the new year. Brian calls Blaster gorgeous, and the crew wants the set. [Source: TFormers]

Year of the Dragon Ultimate Optimus Prime Coming to Toys R Us Canada

After Amazon picked up the Chinese New Year exclusive Year of the Dragon Ultimate Optimus Prime in the U.S., Toys R Us will carry it in Canada. The crew calls it an odd release nobody asked for, though the box would display well. [Source: TFormers]

Transformers Collectors’ Club Subscription Service Ships in January

The Collectors’ Club confirmed its figure subscription service will start shipping in January 2013. One host is keeping only the figures with new heads or molds he doesn’t have, like Breakdown, and selling the rest. [Source: TFormers]

Rescue Bots: Hot Shots

Aimee and Nicole review Hot Shots. A new scoop claw lets Dani and Blades steal every rescue until the team feels unappreciated. Then lightning strikes Blades and sets off a forest fire, trapping Dani and Cody. The rest of the team comes to the rescue. The reviewers love Blades worrying the claw makes him look fat and the brother-sister moment between Cody and Dani. They give it two thumbs up.

Transformers Rewind: Triple Takeover

Starscream, Blitzwing and Astrotrain freeze Megatron, then each Triple Changer sets up his own base. Astrotrain reprograms trains to steal energy and floods the city, while Blitzwing takes over a football stadium and runs over four Autobots. The crew says the episode proves everyone under Megatron is worse at the job, and they’re surprised by how violent it is. They mock the absolute-zero freezing plan and Trailbreaker lounging on a roof during the flood. They suspect heavy editing made the Autobot scenes feel tacked on.

Transformers Rewind Ahead

Next week’s Rewind is Carnage in C-Minor, and Brian promises more episodes, including Heavy Metal War. Episodes are collected in a YouTube playlist.
