Official images of MP-19 Smokescreen win the crew over with a new head, guns and car parts on the Prowl mold. Takara’s Tokyo Toy Show Titan Class Metroplex adds two extra guns, and photos show it standing about 24 inches tall. Megan Fox may return for Transformers 4, and the crew splits on whether that is good news. Exvee, Rob and JD review ReGeneration One #92, the first self-contained issue of the series.

Takara’s Tokyo Toy Show Metroplex Gets Two Extra Guns

Official images show Takara Tomy’s Titan Class Metroplex, premiering at the Tokyo Toy Show. It matches the US release except for two extra leg cannons. Photos put it slightly taller than Fortress Maximus but far less massive, at about 24 inches. It ships in a flat box with one arm to attach. JD plans to wait for the US version. Diecast admits the San Diego Metroplex rumor he floated was one he made up. [Source: not found]

Official Images of MP-19 Smokescreen

Smokescreen reuses the Masterpiece Prowl mold, but the crew says he looks like a new character. He gets a new head, new shoulder guns and a different front clip and rear wing. One host contrasts it with Masterpiece Ultra Magnus, a plain white Optimus Prime repaint. Another host, cool on the plain Bluestreak, calls Smokescreen gorgeous. Brian still wishes the Mega SDF had shipped with the basketball shown in its concept art. He found his own September 12, 1998 alt.toys.transformers post about Optimus Prime playing basketball. Starscream With Waspinator and Megatron Two-Packs Get Bios

New images and bios arrived for the Decepticon two-packs, and the Autobot sets are already at Walmart. One host wants the Starscream set and has no interest in the Autobots. Another likes this tank Megatron, unlike the Titanium version. One host says Starscream’s jet is Guido Guidi’s hybrid F-15 and F-22 design. [Source: not found]

Beast Hunters Voyager Megatron Gets a Sharkticon Look

In-hand box photos show a Sharkticon-style redeco of Beast Hunters Voyager Megatron. The crew doubts it as a Sharkticon but thinks it would make a fine Depth Charge custom. Don wanted a Voyager Insecticon hardshell instead. One host notes Megatron disappears halfway through the line’s instruction fiction. [Source: not found]

Megan Fox Tagged in a Transformers 4 Photo

A Paramount Instagram photo of a Lamborghini carried a Megan Fox tag. Diecast is thrilled, while other hosts preferred the third movie without her. Michael Bay says she is not in the film, which the crew takes as a reason to doubt it. A UK car show report says every car seen so far is an Autobot. [Source: not found]

A Chevy Sonic Rally Car Appears for Transformers 4

A Chevrolet Sonic RS rally car on Michael Bay’s site looks like Skids or Mudflap to the crew. One host just wants Wheelie back. [Source: not found]

Q&A with Rob Springer

Henry Pham asks why the newer triple changers come at a bigger size class. Rob says scale has never been consistent, so size is about making the toy work. Astrotrain worked at Deluxe because his design is simple. The 2008 Octane and Galvatron struggled, and Galvatron reportedly lost a planned cannon mode in budgeting. Springer works well at Voyager, and Rob thinks Blitzwing would be worse at Deluxe.

Comic Review: ReGeneration One #92

Exvee, Rob and JD agree this is the best issue of the series so far. For the first time it tells a complete story in one issue, like a classic Marvel comic. Rob says the book is always threatening to tell a story, and this time it actually does. JD thinks it works as a bridge to the final arc, and next month brings Guido Guidi art.

Comic Review: Beast Hunters #2

Rob says the second issue wraps up the Energon cannibal story well. He likes Sludge’s characterization and the reconciliation with Grimlock. Agustin Padilla’s art is holding up for now, though Rob worries about deadlines. JD saw the twist coming but still liked it.

Comic News with Aimee Morgan

The Transformers Facebook page has creator commentaries on Robots in Disguise #18 and Beast Hunters #1. Monstrosity reaches issue eight, at a dollar each digitally. The Transformers Movie Collection Volume 1 returns in paperback, and IDW Collection Volume 8 is out. IDW offers a $500 VIP tour of its offices on June 27, with CEO Ted Adams and a limited book. Simon Furman announced a ReGeneration One issue zero with five extra Geoff Senior pages. Aimee suggests booking artist commissions before BotCon and bringing trades for John Barber and Mairghread Scott to sign.
