A third-party Fall of Cybertron Metroplex sparks a debate on Radio Free Cybertron 326: have the third parties gone too far? A leaked Transformers 4 call sheet points to Dinobots, and Shout Factory plans DVDs of the Unicron Trilogy and Animated. Diecast recaps OmegaCon, and the crew weighs in on TFSS 2.0 Barricade. Exvee and Rob also review ReGeneration One #94, alongside More Than Meets the Eye #20 and Beast Hunters #4.

RFC on TFYLP

Last week’s show aired the Charticon panel, and Don says the crew’s impressions of him were way off. The whole crew also guested on Weird Wolf’s Transformers for Your Listening Pleasure podcast, now posted in the RFC feed. Don was thrilled to meet fellow fans of the Brave series there.

OmegaCon Recap

Diecast calls the first OmegaCon in Philadelphia a success and credits organizer Keith. Phil LaMarr attended, and listeners recognized Diecast in line. He took the custom class and built a Rodimus from the Prime Wheeljack mold with a Buster head. He also won a door prize and handed out about half a box of RFC cards. OmegaCon plans to return next year at a nearby venue.

Transformers 4 Call Sheet Points to Dinobots

A leaked call sheet for Transformers 4 confirms Dinobots and a few other characters. A stand-in photo shows a stegosaurus with a Volkswagen Beetle attached. The crew notes Michael Bay once said he would never use Dinobots. One host shares a rumor from a reliable source that part of the plot involves time travel. One host expects Snarl to look like Leadfoot and wants more distinct character designs. The crew expects the first images by Toy Fair. [Source: TFormers]

Shout Factory to Release the Unicron Trilogy and Animated on DVD

Armada, Energon, Cybertron and Animated are all coming from Shout Factory, but Robots in Disguise is not. The crew hopes for individual season sets rather than one expensive bundle. One host jokes that each set will include one disc of Energon. Another host adds that Victory may come to Blu-ray next year. [Source: not found]

TFSS 2.0 Barricade Revealed

Exvee says the Collectors Club Barricade looks like a Muppet, but the rest of the crew likes it. One host notes the deco comes from the unreleased Transformers Universe game. The crew also talks about the subscription shipping and billing, and why a Voyager figure is harder to ship cheaply. [Source: not found]

Linkin Park Soundwave Gets a Cream-Colored Deco

Brian brings up the cream-colored Linkin Park Soundwave. One host calls it earwax, and the crew finds it worse than the planned gold version. [Source: not found]

Have the Third Parties Gone Too Far?

Exvee raised a third-party Fall of Cybertron Metroplex on the crew’s email list. The crew guesses it comes from the makers of Planet X Genesis. One host argues third parties are becoming an alternate Hasbro, making repeat characters instead of the obscure ones fans want. He predicts a third-party bubble, and Brian adds that retailers will grow wary of unproven brands. Diecast welcomes the choice, since three Predakings at once let buyers pick the best one. The crew points to Impossible Toys, which reportedly folded after selling only a few hundred of its seven Tetrajets. Don wants the companies to communicate more so they stop overlapping.

Q&A with Rob Springer

Grufflock asks why geek culture greets every announcement with negativity, and whether Kre-O is over. Rob says Kre-O is not finished, pointing to new buckets, play sets and the CityVille Invasion figures. He calls fandom negativity a loud minority and recalls a BotCon crowd cheering Armada toys that online fans hated.

Comic Reviews

In a prerecorded segment, Exvee and a co-host review Beast Hunters #4, where the Dinobots fight cloned dinosaurs and win. They wish the cover showed that fight and regret that the book is ending early. More Than Meets the Eye #20 reveals that Skids and Getaway served in a black ops unit, apparently run by Prowl. The reviewers suspect misdirection. They praise James Roberts and Alex Milne for planting small visual clues, such as Brainstorm’s briefcase being shot loose. Exvee and Rob then review ReGeneration One #94, where Ultra Magnus fights Galvatron while the story pauses for issue #0 next month. The reviewers compare its pacing to Dragon Ball Z.

What We Got This Week

Diecast built a custom Rodimus in the OmegaCon custom class. He also found Hoist and Thundercracker at Walmart and the series 3 Kre-O blind bags at Toys R Us.

Brian has Platinum Edition Predaking on preorder and plans to switch his order to Hasbro Toy Shop using a co-host’s coupon.
