Hasbro announces Generations Arcee and Chromia, and Don, Arcee’s biggest fan, waits for photos before celebrating. The BotCon 2014 theme turns out to be pirates versus knights, and an exclusive Masterpiece Bluestreak is on the way. New photos of Masterpiece G2 Sideswipe win the crew over, and a rumor puts Masterpiece Prowl at Toys R Us. Snowed-in Rob Springer joins live for a Beast Wars spark question that turns into a continuity debate.
This Week in History
In 2003, a TF Archive thread saw the first known use of ‘Gee-Wun’ in the fandom. It is a jab at fans who think only G1 counts. In 1999, the Beast Wars episode Feral Scream Part 1 premiered in the US. Rob rewatched it recently and says Season 3’s CGI still holds up.

Live Q&A with Rob Springer
Scarecrow Van Slaughter asks why Waspinator did not mutate from Starscream’s spark the way Optimus Primal and Megatron changed from G1 sparks. Rob’s in-story answer: Optimus had the Matrix, and Starscream’s possession was a full takeover rather than a spark touching a spark. His real answer is that the writers did not think about it.
The question turns into a debate about continuity. Rob sees Hasbro’s Aligned Continuity as a way of saying current product is canon. Brian prefers separate pocket continuities and compares the push for one timeline to DC’s New 52. Others point to James Bond and Batman as franchises that reboot freely.
A chat question about the Age of Extinction Dinobots gets a shrug, since the crew expects third parties to make whatever fans want anyway. Rob then performs his own reenactment of the Super Bowl trailer. Rob will co-host the Transformers panel at Joelanta in March.
What We Got This Week
Brian got Armada Starscream, which is okay but not the best toy ever. Scoop is a notch better, though a little flimsy for a front loader. He also got the rest of the wave, including Fall of Cybertron Skywarp, which he says does not suck.
