X-Transbots’ Apollyon looks like the Masterpiece-style Megatron fans wanted, but the crew worries about KFC’s build quality. A Robot Kingdom rumor says the next Masterpiece will be a new Megatron. Combiner Wars diagrams show Ultra Prime and Superion with interchangeable limbs, and Hasbro and Takara Tomy Brainstorm appear side by side. A sick Brian launches the show’s holiday push for Toys for Tots, with a twist: buy Arcee and donate her.

Combiner Wars Ultra Prime and Superion Diagrams

New diagrams show Ultra Prime and Superion, with Alpha Bravo shown as both an arm and a leg. One host wishes a foot were always a foot, believing the figures would be better for it. Hasbro’s stock photos also show the packaging and the included trading card. One host saw Robot Kingdom listing preorders for the first wave of Aerialbots and Dragstrip, which the crew plans to buy up. [Source: not found]

Evangelion MP-10 Optimus Prime

Robot Kingdom has the Evangelion-colored MP-10 Optimus Prime for $279. The crew likes it more than expected but not at that price. [Source: Robot Kingdom]

Rumor: The Next Masterpiece Is Megatron

Robot Kingdom reports that the next announced Masterpiece will be Megatron. One host takes credit for predicting that the gold MP-05 meant the old mold was on its way out. Diecast tells him to wait for confirmation. One host dislikes the original MP Megatron and hopes for a better one. The crew bets on a gun mode again, though one host would love a G2 tank. Generations Brainstorm, Hasbro and Takara Tomy

A side-by-side photo shows both versions, and the Takara Tomy deco looks better. One host is fine with either, since he just wants the figure. Some early copies have a sticking head mechanism, apparently because the head sits too far down in its socket. [Source: not found]

X-Transbots Apollyon

X-Transbots shows Apollyon, a Masterpiece-style not-Megatron that fixes the crew’s complaints about Hegemon. The crew learns X-Transbots is a KFC sub-brand, which worries Brian. He regrets one of his two KFC items and calls his Dice Stack just okay. Diecast’s copy of the same Ultra Magnus homage arrived broken, and he finds Apollyon’s midsection thin. Don likes his Citizen Stack and Kronos for their looks, and the crew agrees to wait for reviews. [Source: not found]

More from TFormers

TFormers reviews Robots in Disguise Volume 6 and Primacy #4. It also has new photos of Takara Tomy’s Mega Drive Megatron and Masterpiece Bumblebee’s transformation. [Source: TFormers]

Toys for Tots

With Christmas a month away, Brian asks listeners to donate to Toys for Tots. Diecast suggests buying up every Arcee so Don cannot find one. Brian adjusts the plan: buy Age of Extinction figures and Arcees for donation, and show Hasbro that female Autobots sell.

This Week in History

Friend of the show Jake Waller, owner of Retro Reboot and co-organizer of ShardCon, celebrates his birthday at 24. In 1986 this week, The Burden Hardest to Bear aired. Brian remembers it as creepy, especially Scourge warped by the Matrix. The crew quotes Scourge’s “Remarkable. The woman is clairvoyant” and Galvatron’s best lines.

Q&A with Rob Springer

Asked again about a Beast Wars Transformers 5, the crew says no and warns against news from sites nobody has heard of. Don hopes the final movie at least seeds a Maximal and Predacon future, and Brian concedes Hasbro’s growing control might allow it. Asked whether introducing the Matrix of Leadership from the start would have changed G1, the crew says it would have been one more MacGuffin. Asked about a Regeneration One cartoon, Brian argues that a series made 30 years later cannot feel organic. He would rather have new stories like More Than Meets the Eye.

RFC Announcements

Brad Russell, who donated TFCon table space to sell JD Church’s collection, now has an online store on Square. Brian has a few 2X RFC shirts left. The year-end episode will replace the two holiday weeks.
