Listen · RFC · Oct 23, 2015

Brian goes solo for this short bonus episode, RFC 439 and a Half, since the crew was too tired after TFCon Charlotte to turn its livestream into a regular show. TakaraTomy surprises with MP-11NR Masterpiece Ramjet, the first Conehead Seeker on the retooled mold, limited to 2,000 pieces. BotCon 2016 reveals Predacon general Cicadacon for its Beast Wars box set, and Transformers sales fall but beat Hasbro’s expectations. Brian also shares his first-ever Happy Day interview, with Don.

Just Announced: MP-11NR Masterpiece Ramjet Limited Edition Exclusive

MP-11NR Masterpiece Ramjet is the first Conehead Seeker built on the retooled Seeker mold, with a nice face sculpt and added poseability. It is a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive at about 16,000 yen, roughly $123, and limited to 2,000 pieces. Pre-orders run October 26 through November 4. Brian did not expect to want it, but he may jump on it if it costs less than $200 to import. [Source: TFormers]

BotCon 2016 Dawn of the Predacus Reveals Cicadacon

The BotCon 2016 box set is a Beast Wars set for the line’s 20th anniversary, built around a Predacon combiner named Predacus. So far it includes Ravage, Tarantulas and the bots that formed Tripredacus. The newly revealed Predacon general Cicadacon is based on Skydive and is very red. Brian loves Beast Wars and combiners but admits he is a little combinered out, and the price will likely keep him away. [Source: TFormers]

Hasbro Reports Third Quarter 2015 Results

Transformers sales fell in Hasbro’s third quarter but beat the company’s own expectations, since last year was a movie year. Brian hears that some fans online fear Transformers is dying and calls that an overreaction. He does note that the movie toys do not seem to sell as well as they used to. [Source: Hasbro]

This Week in History

In 1997, around October 21 or 22, Columbia Music Entertainment released the Japanese Beast Wars singles “War War! Stop It” and “For the Dream.” Brian plays a clip of “For the Dream” and says no US theme song has ever been as awesome.

The TFCon Weekend on the Feed

Brian recaps the bonus content posted over the weekend. RFC Extra episode 18 features Anthony of TFU.info interviewing the Hasbro team. An on-site live recording from TFCon Charlotte features Don, Matt and Rob Springer. A multi-podcast panel from TFCon brings together RFC, Transmissions, TwinCast and Shattered Cast Uncut, and the RFC Mini-cast has Don talking about TFCon.

Happy Day: Brian Interviews Don

Brian plays the full episode of his separate parody podcast, Happy Day, an homage to the cheap paid-time shows of small-market radio. In his first-ever interview on that show, Brian’s redneck host character interviews Don, and Brian says everyone in the room struggled to hold in their laughter.
