John DeLuna returns from a break with Exvee, Matt and Don to compare Unite Warriors Computron with Hasbro’s Combiner Wars version. Takara’s set swaps in new molds for Lightspeed, Nosecone and Strafe, and Exvee calls it an easy pick. Don and Matt own both and weigh fit and finish. The crew also covers combiner fatigue, Liokaiser’s arrival and a long combiner wishlist.
Takara or Hasbro Computron
Exvee says Unite Warriors Computron was the easy choice. Takara’s Lightspeed uses the Wheeljack retool of Breakdown, and Nosecone uses the Rook mold, which Exvee calls the best single mold in Combiner Wars. Don, a Bruticus fan, double dipped because the two Computrons look so different. He echoes Rob Clay’s review: Hasbro’s version is fine and includes Scrounge, the first Scrounge figure. Matt is glad Hasbro made one at all, and he also has a Betatron. One host notes the Silverbolt mold makes one of the best torsos in the line.
Combiner Fatigue and Fresh Eyes
Exvee says alternating between Combiner Wars and Titans Return makes both feel fresher. Takara’s Strafe surprised him, and his Blast Off has mostly held together. The hosts look ahead to Megatronia and the oxidized-metal Victorion concept. They also hope future conventions or retailers might fund redecos like a G2 Defensor.
Fit and Finish
Don says Brawl is still Brawl, with loose foot hinges, and Lightspeed’s legs won’t hold the foot peg. Matt echoes Rob Clay: Hasbro picked the two worst molds for legs. One host praises Hasbro’s new hands and feet and wishes they were sold separately for other combiners. The Unite Warriors set has no fit issues for Matt or Exvee. Exvee explains Brawl’s design: there wasn’t enough material to look like Brawl in both modes and still form a full body.
Liokaiser and What Comes Next
Matt already has Liokaiser, imported from Asia, while US fans wait for the Entertainment Earth exclusive in October or November. One host says Unite Warriors uses any tooling that exists, and there are rumors of unseen pre-tooled parts. Matt wants combiners spread across lines instead of one gimmick for a whole line. Don’s wishlist includes a G2 Defensor, Road Caesar, Raiden, Piranacon, Magnaboss and Tripredacus. Another host wants Seacons built to anchor beast combiners, or a Grand Galvatron-style surprise. Don wants an orange G2 Devastator in a KB Toys-style box.
