Skullitron, Velocitron, and no Don

Listen · RFC 511

The Titans Return Chaos on Velocitron multipack turns up at a Toys R Us in Erie, Pennsylvania, for $100. TakaraTomy’s LG-43 Legends Trypticon shows off arms that can feed Titan Masters to its mouth. Leaked Last Knight Deluxes bring Megatron, Decepticon Nitro and the coppery Skullitron, likely as Toys R Us two-packs. Brian’s first FansToys figure, Sovereign, sparks a heated die-cast debate with Diecast.

Show Notes

Don is out sick, the first show without him in longer than anyone can remember. Next week Brian and Chris will be away, so a surprise guest host takes over.

Forged to Fight Pin Giveaway

Hasbro and Transformers: Forged to Fight sent the show an Autobot and Decepticon pin made by Pinny Arcade for PAX East. The crew will give it away in a Twitter contest, with the winner announced while Brian and Chris are away.

This Week in History

In 2008, Aveo Swerve goes on sale through Chevrolet’s websites in Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates for about 68 hours. Years later, Canadian Chevrolet dealers turned up with stock, which is why it now sells for $30 to $40. One host loves Transformers that turn into everyday cars. In 2010, Fun Publications reveals the first figure in the BotCon 2010 box set, Autobot Spark, also known as Pyro. Brian calls it the first BotCon set he ever bought and plans a Throwback Thursday share of the RFC episode that covered it.

Titans Return Chaos on Velocitron Multipack Found at Toys R Us in the US

The set turned up at a Toys R Us in Erie, Pennsylvania, at $100, about two hours from Diecast. The crew expected a markup and recalls Toys R Us raising prices on early Masterpiece releases. Several hosts say those problems are why they started importing. [Source: TFormers]

LG-43 Legends Trypticon: New Magazine Scans Show Off Dinosaurer’s TakaraTomy Deco

The Takara version looks a lot like Hasbro’s, with lighter grays and purples and a purple-painted mouth. The scans also show the arms can lift a Titan Master up to the mouth. One host would buy Legends Full Tilt carded, and the talk turns to how much better Legends Blurr looks than the Hasbro figure. [Source: TFormers]

Wave 4 is now at Walmart in Canada. Nobody on the crew has found Sixshot yet, and they expect Wave 4 and the Velocitron set to spread around The Last Knight street date. [Source: not found]

MP-36 Masterpiece Megatron Version 2: New In-Hand Video Shows Off Figure

A sideways in-hand video gives a look at MP-36. The crew marvels that Masterpiece has reached 36 numbered releases since 2004, and likely 50 to 70 counting variants. Several hosts skipped the first Masterpiece Megatron, and Masterpiece Rodimus Prime gets roasted as a pretender shell. [Source: TFormers]

New Generations Cyber Battalion Figures Surface: Prowl and Jetfire

Photos from Taiwan show Prowl and a Jetfire that looks like a redo of the Starscream mold, without the awful chrome. The crew notes the line rarely reaches the US outside Universal Studios stores. [Source: TFormers]

Transformers Movie Series to Spark Off Hasbro’s Larger Move to Film, Including G.I. Joe Reboot

Chris explains the LA Times piece on Hasbro’s film plans. G.I. Joe would be rebooted for a younger audience, and the Bumblebee spinoff should feel like the first Transformers movie again. The crew agrees kids care about characters, not stars, and that casting is for the parents. [Source: TFormers]

A Paramount Transformers Experience Rolls Out for The Last Knight

Jack from TFormers and other fan-site writers visited Paramount, met Michael Bay and saw what may be the first video of Hot Rod’s robot mode. The Last Knight Premier Edition Package Art

New package art gives Optimus Prime a regal, knightly look. The Barricade art is one of the clearest views of his redesign and looks little like the toy. His knuckles read “Protect and Serve” on the art but “Punish” in a new motion poster. [Source: not found]

What We Got This Week

Diecast

Diecast got a heavy Taobao replica of the Allspark cube and BadCube’s Gears, the best Gears figure so far in his view. He finally shipped part four of Fans Project Dinoking and ordered parts five and six before they vanish. He defends FansToys Sovereign, Brian’s pickup this week, as one of his third-party figures of the year, with die-cast and plastic in the right places. He also got FansToys Grinder, and his full review is up. A die-cast replacement leg piece cracked his figure.

Brian

Brian got his first FansToys figure, Sovereign, and dislikes how bottom-heavy the die-cast makes it. He says he will stick with MakeToys and prefers Titans Return Galvatron. During the show he bought Legends Blurr on eBay.
