LG-EX Legends Blue Big Convoy in Beast Wars Neo Lucky Draw Colors
Takara follows Encore Big Convoy with a Lucky Draw-style deco due in February. Brian loves the mold despite calling it a bad Transformer, and expects to own six or seven versions. One host says Ultra Mammoth and Nemesis are the only essential uses of the mold. He admits he might still buy the Encore at a discount, because its new deco looks good. [Source: TFormers]
TakaraTomy Official Siege Images of February Releases
Brian likes the look of Sideswipe, Ultra Magnus and Cog. He feels the line scratches a Classics itch, even if it is not the pre-G1 Cybertron he hoped for. The battle-damage paint divides the crew. One host says the uneven wash makes Sideswipe look like he tripped on some stairs, and Ultra Magnus’s small white robot looks dirty. Another compares it to Gundam lines that added damaged option parts. One host plans to try a magic eraser on it. One host argues sentient robots should not ship scarred, while another points to how often Beast Wars showed the cast damaged. [Source: TFormers]
Golden Lagoon MP-10 Convoy: New In-Hand Images
Better photography helps, but the crew still sees butterscotch and mustard. One host says it would be better with no gold chrome at all, and another points to a visible chest gap. One host wanted it until he saw the price, and says his 7-Eleven Masterpiece Optimus Prime was the better buy. [Source: TFormers]
Bumblebee Movie Energon Igniters: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Barricade In Hand
The crew does not hate them, and they look better than many movie toys. One host would rather wait for a Studio Series Barricade in that 1980s body, and another hopes it leads to a movie Strongarm. [Source: TFormers]
Studio Series Deluxe Wave 3 Found in the US
The wave showed up at a California Target with Shatter, Dark of the Moon Ratchet, Volkswagen Bumblebee and a reship of Crowbar. One host still wants Shadow Raider. [Source: TFormers]
Non-Transforming Diecast G1 Optimus Prime at Target
Listener Scott Amos Prime tweeted that a movie-branded diecast vehicle line now includes a non-transforming G1 Optimus Prime. Brian thanks him and plans to hunt for one at Target. [Source: not found]
Cyberverse Episodes ‘Fractured’ and ‘Memory’ Available Online
Hasbro posted the first two Transformers: Cyberverse episodes on YouTube in HD with no region lock. Brian liked them and says the 20 minutes are worth watching. [Source: TFormers]
Perfect Effect Launches PE-DX10 Jetpower Revive Prime
The concept restyles Revenge of the Fallen’s Jetpower Optimus Prime in a G1 style. A Voyager-sized core armors up to Leader size, and the trailer looks like a real trailer. The crew likes it, and the $135 preorder price is better than expected. One host recalls Takara’s cancelled Unite for the Universe line, which showed Jetfire’s armor folded into a box on wheels. Another sees it as the evolution of City Commander and Make Toys’ Battle Tanker. [Source: TFormers]
Planet X PX-C01 Ismenios: Unofficial Deathsaurus
Ismenios includes a Breastforce gimmick with one beast, and its dragon mode reminds the crew of Beast Wars II Galvatron. At about $170, one host would buy it simply because it looks nice. The crew agrees the original G1 toy is rare but not much fun. The crew hopes for an add-on bird and more Japanese-inspired characters such as Dai Atlas. [Source: TFormers]
What’s on TFormers
Rob noticed that the guns on Siege Ultra Magnus’s knees match Cybertron Optimus Prime. He suspects the Leader Class Optimus Prime will have Cybertron-inspired details, just as Magnus nods to Robots in Disguise. [Source: TFormers]
From the RFC Vault
After the outro, the episode replays a 2009 RFC segment marking the Beast Machines 10th anniversary. It covers early Bludgeon photos and the Device Label toys. It also includes an interview with Jim Sorenson about the AllSpark Almanac, written with co-author Bill, and his earlier ARC character-model books.
What We Got This Week
Brian got Novastar, still unopened, and the Hasbro Asia MP-34S Shadow Panther, his Masterpiece take on Transmetal 2 Ravage.
Jason added a Legends-scale third-party Soundwave from Hot Soldiers to an eBay order. It is a head taller than Shockwave and lacks bicep and knee rotation. He says it is good for one of the cheapest Legends-size options.
Chris had nothing this week.
Don had nothing at all, with only a Walmart and a Target left near him.
Diecast got a surprise package from Fans Hobby: a new head and hands for its unofficial Powermaster Prime, Power Baser. The head looks like Jose Delbo’s comic art. DX9’s unofficial Breakdown, Montana, let him down with paint chips and a chest that will not tab in. He also got Generation Toy’s upgrade kit for its Gravity Builder Devastator, with extra height, drill hands and an extra head, but no cape. He also picked up an unofficial Snapdragon.
Rob had nothing in Transformers this week.
John had nothing this week.
