Two New Transformers Movies Under Development by Hasbro and Paramount

Brian takes it seriously because Variety reported it, not a clickbait site. Matt says two films in development really means one gets made, if that. One host points out the writers’ mixed credits, which the trade papers framed as positively as possible. One host would rather bring back Christina Hodson from Bumblebee. At minimum, Brian says, Paramount is actively working on Transformers. [Source: TFormers]

Beast Wars Rumored to Be the Other New Transformers Movie Reboot From Paramount?

Matt predicts executives will toss the Beast Wars script for the property they know makes money. One host recalls concept art suggesting beast-form Transformers were pitched during The Last Knight. The crew agrees any Beast Wars movie would not be what fans want. One host says he does not need another Transformers movie. [Source: TFormers]

Transformers Earthrise Leader Class Found in the US

Earthrise Leader Optimus Prime turned up at a Target near Boise, Idaho, confirming his blue hands. A chat viewer jokes that the Decepticon rank symbol on the box looks like a Dr. Mario virus. One host notes Amazon shipped the Earthrise Micromasters early to preorder customers. It may do the same with Optimus Prime. [Source: TFormers]

Seacons Delayed to March on Hasbro Pulse

Hasbro Pulse pushed the Seacons to March 23 the day before they were due to ship. One host notes partner retailers like Big Bad Toy Store had been told to drop their preorders. He expects later waves to slip too, and Turtler and Gulf are now hard to find. The animation-colored Masterpiece Smokescreen slipped as well. [Source: not found]

Winter Wonderfest in Japan comes about two weeks before Toy Fair. One host hopes to see the Raiden project and the Armada Optimus Prime there. The RFC Toy Fair live stream is Saturday, February 22, and the first RFC Throwback episode is out for patrons.

Patreon Q&A

Jason Hiley asks if anyone has considered leaving the fandom. One host left for a year in 2007 over the movie toys and came back for Animated. Another drifted for a while around 2005 while focused on fitness. One host separates the fandom, which is hanging out with the crew, from collecting. Prices make several hosts want to stop collecting. One host is rethinking anything outside Generations and Masterpiece.

Don says better versions will keep coming and he cannot collect everything into his 80s. He felt the Beast Wars-era negativity hurt his enjoyment of the fandom. One host most enjoys passing on what he has learned. Matt simply enjoys talking about a shared interest.

Asked whether Transformers will ever get something truly new, one host points to BotBots. Another expects at most a familiar formula turned 90 degrees. Don notes Beast Wars took a risk because Generation 2 had not revived the brand.

John Triclops asks about the best and worst Encore and e-Hobby releases. Picks for the best include the blue Big Convoy and Fortress Maximus Encores, Sound Blaster and Twincast, and e-Hobby Sunstorm. The Fire Convoy Encore and movie-deco e-Hobby Skids and Mudflap rank as the worst.

What We Got This Week

Diecast got a third-party War Within Optimus Prime called General Grant, whose trailer becomes a jet pack. He loves it, though the chest leaves a gap and opening the Matrix chipped his paint. He also got KSI Boss after Chris spotted a deal. A third-party Masterpiece-style Onslaught is still unopened.

Chris found the Target-exclusive Siege Micromaster ten-pack, loose but complete, for $37 shipped on eBay. He thinks he now owns every Siege Micromaster made.

Matt got X-Transbots Gravestone, their Motormaster, to go with his G2-colored Stunticon cars. He likes it less than the cars and dislikes how the torso comes together, but it looks great finished. He confirms the softer waist clip others warned about. He is also getting the G1 versions. That gives him a combined team in one deco and separate cars in the other.

Don bought Walmart’s G1 Astrotrain reissue for $39.97 and Siege Astrotrain from Hasbro Pulse. He wants a Selects Siege Astrotrain in animation or Japanese colors. One host warns that the Siege Astrotrain coal-tender piece needs shaving to sit flat.

Rob got Battle Masters Rung from Don and is happy to have the character.

Jason thanked Brian for last year’s gift of The Wreckers Saga. He went on a Flame Toys run with the IDW Nemesis Prime, the Shattered Glass Attack Mode Optimus Prime and IDW Megatron. He skipped Megatron’s foil chest stickers on Chris’s advice. He finished Iron Factory’s Decepticon Justice Division and likes the combined form so much he will leave it assembled.

Brian consolidated his Combiner Wars combiners and is still chasing a few, including the Magna Boss sticker set. He ordered Tiny Turbo Changers from Amazon and got Blackarachnia, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. He thinks the Cyberverse-based minis beat the old movie versions.
