MP-39+ Spinout Is Red Diaclone Sunstreaker
Takara Tomy’s Masterpiece Spinout is Sunstreaker in the red of the first Diaclone car robot. Don is thrilled and preordered right away. He now wants MP-27+ Ironhide in black. The crew notes Spin-Out was an early prototype name for Sunstreaker. One host calls red Sunstreaker the original Transformer in spirit, since it was the first Diaclone car robot. One host has a shelf of Diaclone-colored Masterpieces waiting for it. [Source: RFC News Desk]
Earthrise Earthmode Two-Pack Holds Prowl and Ironhide
Amazon France updated its mystery two-pack listing. It contains Prowl and Ironhide, not the expected Bluestreak. Chris notes the listing gives Ironhide 22 transformation steps, while Siege Ironhide lists 14, so it is likely a new mold. A brand-new mold debuting in an exclusive multipack is almost unheard of. Chris can only think of Punch-Counterpunch as a partial precedent. The listing points to a July 1 release, so an official reveal should come soon. [Source: RFC News Desk]
Next Live-Action Transformers Movie Set for June 24, 2022
Paramount has dated a live-action Transformers movie, separate from last week’s animated project. The crew jokes about how many scripts are in circulation. One host quips that Revenge of the Fallen did not even have one script. [Source: TheWrap]
Third-Party Corner
Brian spots NewAge’s Rear Window set, a Reflector-style team in G1 and G2 colors, at Big Bad Toy Store. He loves the Hitchcock name but is not buying it.
What We Got This Week
Don
Don got the Spy Patrol cassettes. His replacement Studio Series Soundwave arrived from Amazon after the Dropkick mix-up. His friend Fred found him the Netflix War for Cybertron Hot Link, and he has Mirage on order. After the Skywarp shortage, he did not want to chase these later.
John
John got the Spy Patrol cassettes and Seacon Tentakil. He rates Tentakil a 6.5 or 7 next to the others’ 8.5 or 9. His copy is floppy, and the thick legs and tiny feet make it hard to stand. The alt mode looks fine but is basically a statue. He will display the team as Piranacon to save space, though he likes them best as six separate robots.
Chris
Chris got the orange RFC shirt, and the print stands out nicely.
Rob
Rob’s pickup this week was not Transformers.
Brian
Brian got the Spy Patrol cassettes and Studio Series Jeep Bumblebee. He bought the Beast Wars PC game for Windows 95, planning to stream it. He loves MP-38+ Burning Convoy and is keeping it in ape mode. He also found a boxed G1 Autobot-shield AM radio for $15 that opens to show Optimus Prime’s face. Last, he bought a knockoff G1 Optimus Prime from China for $32 shipped. It copies the early ‘Bloated Prime’ accessories, and he calls the quality excellent for the price.
