Final Galactic Odyssey Set Revealed

The final Galactic Odyssey set is the Botropolis Rescue Mission, a $60 Amazon exclusive due in late February. It packs redecos of the two Modulator deluxes and two Micromaster sets that combine into a space center. Chris says the price matches two deluxes plus two Micromaster sets. Ironworks gets a bright new deco, and Airwave becomes Overair from the Zone line. One stock photo shows Doubledealer’s rocket in new colors, but the product copy never mentions it. Chris floats a Doubledealer redeco as Countdown’s rocket base, since that mold has not had a second use. Others think the rocket is just an undocumented accessory or part of a future accessory pack. Fan First Friday Ghostbusters Speculation

Hasbro scheduled Fan First Friday streams for Transformers, Star Wars and Marvel Legends, plus a Ghostbusters crossover reveal. The crew guesses at Ecto-2, an Afterlife Ecto-1 or Ecto-1A. Blade Raider’s idea of an Earthrise Optimus Prime in Ecto-35 colors wins Chris over. Paladin’s guess of a Ghost Starscream on the Earthrise mold also gets the crew excited. Chris says licensing likely blocks any reuse of crossover molds like Maverick and Gigawatt. [Source: not found]

RFC News Desk 122: Studio Series 72 Starscream Revealed

Studio Series 72 Starscream is the Cybertronian Seeker from the opening of the Bumblebee movie. Hasbro Australia gave Ausformers an exclusive first look, and the toy stayed unspoiled until the reveal. One host first thought it was a mistransformed Blitzwing, and Chris suspects shared engineering. Diecast preordered it on impulse, while another host likes the design but skips movie toys. John points out Starscream’s G1 color scheme is awkward, so redecos always look better. Early photos show odd eye paint, which Chris expects to be fixed before release next summer. [Source: TFRadio]

What We Got This Week

Matt got nothing this week.

Don got Earthrise Runamuck, Sunstreaker and his most anticipated pickup, Trailbreaker. He calls Trailbreaker a character who reminds him of himself, and thinks the Hoist mold works better as Trailbreaker. Sunstreaker’s chest piece clearly does not match in the box. He also got the Galactic Odyssey Prowl and Ironhide two-pack.

John got Earthrise Runamuck, which moves freely despite all the paint, and Sunstreaker, whose yellows he calls atrocious. He likes Trailbreaker and the mold. His Nemesis Prime set comes loaded with weapons and Fangtron, a red and gray Slitherfang. He also has the rest of Earthrise Wave 3, including Fasttrack.

Rob got Earthrise Fasttrack, whose spear vehicle mode works better than he expected. He wishes the guns had a better place to go than over the hands.

Diecast got more Earthrise Wave 3 deluxes from Hasbro Pulse, and another Optimus Prime he loves from an Amazon sale. He also got Gigawatt from GameStop, which arrived well packed, and plans to keep one boxed.

Chris got Selects Black Roritchi, whose gold paint covers a mustard-gold plastic. Kingdom Core Class Rattrap packs deluxe-level engineering and a great likeness. It gives him hope for Kingdom’s Beast Wars figures. Core Class Optimus Prime looks like a scaled-down Earthrise Leader. The face paint is crooked, though, and the truck mode is just there. Vertebreak has great skeleton details but a limited robot mode, making it the weakest of the three.
