I’ll say it, Hot Rod is perfect

Studio Series 86 Hot Rod arrives, and the crew calls it the best Hot Rod yet. Scourge, not so much. Plus a leaked Buzzworthy Bumblebee with Spike, new Cyberverse deluxes, and the Transformers Prime Breakdown and Vehicon set.

Studio Series 86 Hot Rod lands, and the crew agrees it is the closest thing yet to a perfect Hot Rod. Scourge fares worse as a fiddly shell former.

A Buzzworthy Bumblebee Core Class Bumblebee with Spike leaks, and new Cyberverse Deluxe Prowl, Soundwave and Starscream are on the way. Hasbro sends Brian an Earthrise promo box, which he donates to Toys for Tots, and Chris digs into the Transformers Prime Breakdown and Vehicon set.

RFC News Desk 124: War for Cybertron Core Class Bumblebee with Spike Set Leaked

In-Demand Toys leaked stock photos of a War for Cybertron Core Class Bumblebee with an exosuit Spike, branded Buzzworthy Bumblebee. Chris thinks the packaging resembles Target’s 2018 Bumblebee movie exclusives, hinting at a Target exclusive subline early in the year. The Bumblebee mold is new and looks more like Bumper than a Volkswagen. One host would love it in the same colors with a Bumper head. Chris expects the mold to return as Cliffjumper, Hubcap or Bumper. He suspects Spike’s exosuit may also turn up with Studio Series Slag as Daniel. The crew prefers Spike’s opaque silver dome to the sculpted face on the Legends Titans Return exosuit. [Source: TFRadio]

New Cyberverse Deluxes Are Coming

The next Cyberverse Deluxe assortment brings Soundwave, Prowl and Starscream, with no build-a-figure parts this time. The crew is relieved after the year-long wait to finish Maccadam. Soundwave likely turns into a War for Cybertron game-style van. The crew likes the look of Prowl. Starscream does little for one host beyond its missile effect part. [Source: TFRadio]

Beast Wars Generations Book

Transformers at the Moon has been sharing images from the new Beast Wars Generations book on its social media. Highlights include several Beast Wars II lucky draw figures, among them a Galvatron in colors like the red, black and yellow Lio Convoy. The book also includes concept art, even for Animorphs. The crew recommends picking it up. [Source: not found]

What We Got This Week

Brian got a surprise Hasbro promo box for the Netflix Earthrise premiere. It held Trailbreaker, Fasttrack, the Quintesson Judge, Megatron, Sunstreaker, Runamuck and Smokescreen. He kept the Quintesson Judge and the box and donated the rest to Toys for Tots. Like most of the crew, he has Studio Series 86 Hot Rod and Scourge, and declares Hot Rod perfect. His Black Zarak finally arrived from Entertainment Earth after nearly a month lost in forwarding. He also got Maverick, which he will keep boxed, Gigawatt from Amazon and Super7 ReAction Stepper.

Chris says Studio Series 86 Hot Rod packs Voyager engineering into a deluxe-plus body. It finally does the arm-flip transformation Hot Rod uses on Quintessa in the movie. He finds it better than Masterpiece Hot Rod, though the shoulders are odd. He dislikes Scourge, a shell former with legs that only lock at a precise angle. The Transformers Prime Breakdown and Vehicon set is a joy, with Breakdown’s clever SUV transformation. Ratchet fits together far better than Ironhide, but Lifeline on the Arcee mold irritates him. Super Megatron needed some filing but impresses him, even in tank mode. He also got Galactic Man Shockwave from Misty after FedEx lost his first one.

Rob thinks Titans Return Scourge is the better toy, and says he cannot imagine needing another Hot Rod after this one.

Don got Studio Series 86 Hot Rod and Scourge but has not opened them yet, and promises to by next week. He found Netflix Elita-1 and Bumblebee at Walmart and picked up a cheap Classics Optimus Prime for a Fans Project armor kit. He also got Maverick, Ratchet and Lifeline, Super Megatron, and Netflix Optimus Prime and Soundwave. His big arrival is Seacons God Neptune, in an enormous shipping box.

Matt got Seacons God Neptune and is pleased, though Scylla is loose as a leg. He loves Studio Series 86 Hot Rod and says it makes Masterpiece Hot Rod look like a disaster. He likes Scourge more than most and plans three more to make Sweeps. Netflix Soundwave is a great robot but a questionable tape player. Masterpiece Spinout will be his last Masterpiece.

Diecast got the Planet X Helios in Delta Magnus colors and the reformatted DJD Tarn. His Netflix Impactor is the only one of his Walmart orders to ship. He also has Super Megatron, still boxed, and Studio Series 86 Hot Rod and Scourge.

John found all the Netflix Walmart figures he wanted, and sent a spare Bumblebee to Chris. Netflix Soundwave joins Earthrise Optimus Prime as a figure he will not need to replace for years. Netflix Optimus Prime has deeper blues and reds. Elita-1 has a great head sculpt but an odd color scheme. Bumblebee is a pleasing shade of yellow, though he still prefers the Classics version’s scale.
