Masterpiece Nightbird

A retailer solicitation image posted by Loopaza Megastore shows what may be MP-55 Nightbird, a redeco of Masterpiece Arcee. The same batch of images shows Kingdom Scorponok and the Netflix sparkle Seeker, which makes one host think it is genuine. Another is surprised, but the crew notes there are few other uses for the mold. The crew notes a precedent in the Legends line, which paired Arcee-mold Nightbird with Blackarachnia and Slipstream. One host thinks she is too small to pair with Masterpiece Megatron. Don wants an aftermarket Doctor Fujiyama, the famous scientist, and her glass sleeping coffin. Wish lists grow to Masterpiece Animated toys and Generations Animated Sentinel Prime. [Source: Loopaza Megastore on Facebook]

Seeing R.E.D.: Optimus Primal and Reformatting Megatron Revealed

IGN previewed two Walmart Collector Con R.E.D. figures. One host calls the all-new Optimus Primal fine but unneeded, though its head sculpt may be the best show likeness outside Masterpiece. Reformatting Megatron recolors R.E.D. Megatron in purple with a clear grid pattern, from his scan into Galvatron in Transformers: The Movie. The crew finds the reused accessories make no sense for this moment. One host thinks the repaint still beats the Netflix Optimus Primal and Rattrap two-pack. Listings already point to a R.E.D. Galvatron. M Cipher’s joke that R.E.D. stands for redundant, eventually discounted gets a laugh. [Source: TFRadio]

Pulse Con Ravage Price Rises

Hasbro Pulse posted placeholders for its Pulse Con exclusives, and the Ravage the crew loved last week now lists at $52.99. That is about $8 more than the press release price. Diecast suspects the bump covers free shipping for Pulse Premium members. Chris thinks the press materials were simply prepared before recent price increases. Separately, Robosen Optimus Prime preorders briefly reopened at $700. [Source: not found]

What We Got This Week

Diecast got a Transformers custom made in his likeness by a Twitter artist, the leader of his drone army with a G2 symbol. He also got another Fans Toys Apache, now one short of every third-party Masterpiece-style Springer. Fans Toys Forager and Mercenary, its Shrapnel and Kickback, joined a Gigapower Dinobot and a knockoff Combiner Wars-size Devastator. A friend named Rob found him a Netflix sparkle Thundercracker at Walmart, and he also tracked down Core Class Soundwave. His hidden pickup is the clear Fans Toys Phoenix Skyfire, which arrived with a broken thruster he glued. He still prefers the regular Phoenix.

Chris found Studio Series 86 Slag on a trip across Nashville. The shoulders are stiff, but dinosaur mode comes together intuitively. He wishes the mouth peg angled up for fire effects and wants an extension piece for the tail tip. He also paid a small premium for an import Kingdom Red Alert, a near clone of Sunstreaker in vehicle mode. Its red arms make it closer to Clampdown, and he hopes for a Toyhax Clampdown kit.

Rob got Kingdom Paleotrex and Wingfinger. Opened together, Wingfinger feels less sparse, but its robot mode needed rethinking.

Don got Kingdom Scorponok at half price with a GameStop gift card, and he likes how the beast mode fits together. He also got Kingdom Transmutate.

Matt had only non-Transformers pickups this week.

Brian is filling gaps in his boxed Optimus Prime collection and added Robots in Disguise 2001 Optimus Prime, his least favorite Optimus design.
