HasLab Victory Saber funds 11 and a half days early, likely boosted by Japanese preorders. Transformers Tuesday runs all week with Golden Disk Collection reveals: Puffer and Road Ranger, Jackpot and a card-art Mutant Tigatron.
GameStop lists a Modern Icons Soundwave helmet at $130, and Rob takes over History on the Fives. Matt finally gets a Sweep to stand in for Scourge.
Patreon Update
Rob has taken over as host of History on the Fives, the weekly patron podcast, and Brian loves the result. Brian is catching up on the RFC Throwback podcast at two episodes a month. He also hopes to finish What’s Happened to the Headmasters, his 2017 podcast watching the Malaysian Headmasters dub, with touched-tier patrons. Matt and Diecast plan to attend TFCon, mostly for the social side, while Brian sits it out.
News
HasLab Victory Saber jumped from about 9,500 to fully backed, 11 and a half days early. Diecast suspects the jump came when Japanese backers were added in bulk. It funded about a month faster than Unicron and now sits at 11,840 of 11,000 needed. The crew finds the five-per-person limit odd on a made-to-order item. Guesses for the final count range from 16,000 to 25,000. One host uses PayPal’s pay-in-four to budget big buys. The crew hopes a strong result could revive a Masterpiece Victory Leo, and wants the shield revealed. [Source: Hasbro Pulse]
RFC News Desk 149 – Two Days of Transformers Tuesdays
Hasbro ran Transformers Tuesday on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, as Chris predicted. The Golden Disk Collection reveals include Puffer and Road Ranger, which excite one host, and Jackpot, which looks as expected. The crew lists more uses for the Jackpot mold, from Wheelie and Kickoff to Stepper and an Alternators Shockwave. One host notes Puffer and Road Ranger are already manufactured, so the March dates are padding. Rapid daily drops make each reveal feel smaller, one host says. [Source: TFRadio]
RFC News Desk 150 – Mutant Tigatron Heralds Victory Over Unicron
Mutant Tigatron follows the Golden Disk Collection’s Blackarachnia, adapting card art that never matched the original toy. One host says it looks like a zoo gift shop toy, and another would rather have the Walmart reissue Cheetor mold in these colors. The crew feels Beast Wars deep cuts land less well than G1 ones. Brian would rather see wild Beast Wars repaints like Super Primal Prime. [Source: TFRadio]
GameStop lists a Modern Icons Soundwave helmet, which the crew thinks looks as good as the Optimus Prime one. At $130 it costs $20 more than earlier helmets. Diecast already has Optimus Prime and Megatron and is running out of room. One host notes these are display pieces and not comfortable to wear. [Source: GameStop]
What We Got This Week
Matt got Studio Series 86 Sweep from CMD Store to lead his three Scourges, which serve as his Sweeps. The blues differ enough to stand out, but its joints are a little looser than the original release.
Brian bought another Superlink figure from Japan because it was cheap. Patron Kevin sent him the Bumblebee Worlds Collide Blackarachnia, the one figure from that set Brian wanted to open, packed with Wawa swag.
