More Legacy Year 2 Listings Discovered
JT Prime’s datamined listings add core Nemesis Prime, Grimlock, Bomb-Burst, Swoop, Starscream, Scar and Snarl. Deluxes include Shrapnel, Prowl, Crosscut and a second Junkion. Voyagers include Nemesis Leo Prime, a Ramjet package refresh, a Junkion and Bludgeon. Chris says in chat that Bomb-Burst is coming this year, which explains its package refresh tag. One host would welcome a Ramjet refresh after missing the Coneheads. The crew hopes a Junkion could be Nancy or a Killing Jar Wreck-Gar. Others hope the Prowl listing is Animated Prowl, and Don floats Owl Prowl. [Source: TFW2005]
Canon Optimus Prime Camera Collaboration
Canon’s collaboration turns an EOS camera into Optimus Prime, which explains why it is not Reflector. Preorders are listed at no more than 235 Singapore dollars, about $170 US. One host does not care for any of the brand collaboration toys. Rob says Optimus looks like he is just wearing a camera on his chest. Don passes along Blade’s idea from Discord to give the Robots in Disguise 2001 car brothers this kind of treatment. [Source: FTC Raven on Facebook]
First Look at Legacy Pointblank and Dead End Alt Modes
New watermarked photos show Pointblank’s Peacemaker Targetmaster, which folds out its barrel after the legs fold over. One host notes Pointblank’s vehicle appears to lose the central engine vent that formed his shield. The crew still loves the G1 feel and wants new takes on Sureshot, Crosshairs and the Decepticon Targetmasters. Dead End looks fantastic in vehicle mode, and one host really wants a Selects G2 version. [Source: TFW2005]
Studio Series 86 Ironhide First Look
Fans online are not keen on the first image of Studio Series 86 Ironhide, but Brian thinks it looks fine. The crew notes the feet fold into the back of the van, unlike the Earthrise remold. One host wants better photography before judging, since Masterpiece Ironhide looked worse in official photos than in hand. Another is sad the Earthrise mold already got its black Diaclone repaint and would like a Towline from the new one. [Source: TFW2005]
Flame Toys Furai Model Gilthor
Flame Toys announces a Furai Model kit of Gilthor from the Japanese TV Magazine manga. The crew recalls Gilthor as an Optimus Prime duplicate with a dash of Megatron. One host, who has not liked most Flame Toys designs, says he will buy this one because it is unique. [Source: not found]
What We Got This Week
Rob ordered the Creatures Collide set from Target. He loves Goldbug and thinks it works better as Goldbug than as Bumblebee. Ransack feels like an upscaled Titans Return Kickback in the best way, and Sky-Wasp is the weakest of the Waspinator molds.
Don got another Studio Series 86 Arcee for his boxed collection. He also has a spare Motormaster for anyone who needs one.
Matt loves Selects Cyclonus and its deeper plum purple. He also likes Studio Series 86 Sludge more than anyone else on the crew. The wings are loose, but the ratcheting knees and thighs impress him, and he thinks Sludge needed to be Commander class.
Diecast got Motormaster and feels the compromises fit the price, though it fights him when forming Menasor’s chest. Brian sent him a Disney Label Donald Duck Halloween figure, and Rob sent him ReAction Starscream.
Brian cancelled every preorder that was not prepaid. He opened Studio Series Bumblebee movie Ironhide and the Wreckers Impactor and Spindle set. Beast Wars Vintage Wolfang shows signs of mold wear. Targetmaster Cyclonus from Pulse has a floppy left arm. His big pickup is Titan Class Metroplex, which he calls a cohesive toy with heavy ratchets and ranks above Predaking and the Ark.
