Transformers Tuesday Reveals

Brian is most excited for Legacy Evolution Devcon, which nails the look from “The Gambler.” Chris says it keeps only about 15 percent of Blurr and is mostly a new toy. Brian is underwhelmed by G2 Beachcomber, but Chris calls it an exceptional G2 take. Its parakeet rides his shoulder or the dune buggy. Matt was caught off guard by a purple Decepticon Junkion but likes it. JTPrime says the Dirge reissue has molded-color wings instead of paint. Matt wants Nemesis Leo Prime paired with a Legacy Big Convoy. [Source: Ben’s World of Transformers]

Leader Class Armada Megatron and Commander Armada Optimus Prime

Leader Class Armada Megatron gets mixed reactions. Brian loves the original but will buy it anyway. Matt and Don have never liked the Armada Megatron design. Discord member Blade Raider coined “Armada with knees,” which became the episode title. Chris notes Shogo Hosui worked on Commander Armada Optimus Prime with a focus on the core robot. Titan Class Nemesis

The Titan Class Nemesis ship mode looks fantastic, but Brian is underwhelmed by the robot. Matt wanted this ship and loves details like the boarding ramps. Chris plans to wait for a discount. Hasbro calls the robot “she” and the last Decepticon. The crew pitches Spanner as a future Titan. [Source: Ben’s World of Transformers]

Beast Wars VS Set Two: Rhinox vs. Scorponok

Takara’s next Beast Wars VS set pairs Kingdom Rhinox and Scorponok in premium decos. JTPrime says set three is Cheetor and Waspinator and set four is Terrorsaur and Rattrap. Chris doubts these molds can get much more show-accurate. [Source: TFW2005]

Rise of the Beasts Mainline Optimus Primal In Hand

In-hand photos of the mainline Voyager Optimus Primal leave Brian whelmed. He feels the mainline movie toys are now a step below Generations. Chris says a separate team designs them for younger kids and lower prices. JTPrime says mainline Deluxe cases are headed to the US and Canada. [Source: TFW2005 boards]

Transformers Merch: Funko Pop, a Projector and a Mini Backpack

A light-and-sound Funko Pop Optimus Prime is already sold out. A Transformers-branded projector gets a pass, and so does an $85 Optimus Prime mini backpack. [Source: Funko]

What We Got This Week

Diecast

Diecast got another Crashbar, plus clearance Skids and Skullgrin. At Target he found Buzzworthy NEST Bonecrusher for $23. An eBay G1 Metroplex sold as a reissue lacks the Encore badge, and the crew calls it a knockoff. He also got Transmetal 2 Megatron and movie Scourge. At NJCC he got New Age G2 Jazz and Beachcomber for $10 each, DX9 Shattered Glass Dinobots for $60 and MMC Hexatron for $20. He also got knockoff Terrorcons, a Transformers Collectors’ Club Powerglide, a club card and original 1984 toy catalogs. His Masterpiece Skyfire arrived.

Matt

Matt got Twincast and loves the colors, but not Rewind. A forgotten Amazon preorder gave him a third Crashbar.

Don

Don’s replacement backpack for DX9 Carry arrived missing parts, so it does not help.

Brian

Brian got Guardian Robot and Retro Hot Rod. He found a nearly complete yellow G2 Devastator and a G1 Ultra Pretender Crossblades missing a blade. A boxed Classic Pretender Starscream joins them. He completed his 1985 St. Louis McDonald’s Happy Meal minibot set, plus turquoise Cliffjumper and yellow-and-blue Gears variants. He also got a mint, sealed official Chinese G1 Laster for his Road Caesar and a minty working G1 Omega Supreme.
