What We Got This Week
Rob
Rob got the toy version of Missing Link Convoy from Amazon Japan. He calls it 100% G1 Optimus Prime with joints, including hip, shoulder and finger articulation. Transformation is barely more complex than the original. The trailer drops the Roller launcher, which nicks his nostalgia, but the Matrix chamber pops out. With shipping it came to about $120.
Diecast
Diecast got Studio Series Leader Class Concept Art Megatron from Amazon, though it feels like a Voyager to him. He also got Studio Series Rise of the Beasts Wheeljack, still in the box.
Matt
Matt got the DNA Design samurai armor upgrade kit for Animated Prowl. It looks great, but the armor kills Prowl’s articulation. He also got a Transformers: The Movie jigsaw puzzle for about $20.
Don
Don found a Rise of the Beasts Optimus Primal Hallmark ornament for $2 on clearance. He also got Studio Series Wheeljack and EarthSpark Prowl, which reuses the Hot Rod mold. X-Transbots Runamuck and Runabout arrived, along with the aircraft carrier torso of Toy Easy’s warship combiner.
Chris
Chris got TransArt’s second-edition Metal T-Rex, a Masterpiece-scale Transmetal Megatron, secondhand. He calls the robot mode sturdy and the grinning face perfect. It gives him everything he liked about MP-43 without its fragility.
Brian
Brian got Missing Link Convoy too. He also realized last week’s boxed buy is a mint, sealed G2 Pyro, not G1, and he will never open it.
