Don at the Transformers 40th Anniversary Fathom Events Screening

Don saw the 40th anniversary Fathom Events screening and grabbed the popcorn bucket and drink cup, which has season three box art. Hearing the table read change familiar lines was a little jarring, but he loved Frank Todaro’s Starscream and his mustache. He also enjoyed seeing Optimus Prime transform on the big screen at the start of season three. Calling the popcorn bucket a drink bucket gave the episode its title.

Transformers Beast Wars Soundtrack Streaming This June

The Beast Machines soundtrack is streaming now, and the Beast Wars soundtrack arrives June 28. The crew joked that the Beast Machines score is music to run to. One host praised Mainframe’s ever-improving animation and the layered sound design of Beast Wars. Another still wants the G2 commercial raps on streaming. JLab also has Transformers-branded headphones, which did not impress the crew. [Source: TFW2005]

Studio Series 86 Brawn and Ratchet 2-Pack First In-Package Look

The second Shuttle Massacre set, Brawn and Ratchet, gets its first in-package look. Two Voyager-ish boxes are squeezed together with two windows, which will not match the first set on a shelf. The crew loves Brawn’s box art and the blast effect that passes all the way through his shoulder. The crew expects it at Target this summer, and on clearance soon after. They also want more dead Autobots and a Thrust with Optimus Prime’s grille. [Source: TFW2005]

Super7 Transformers ReAction Unicron Second Prototype Colors

Super7 is redecoing ReAction Unicron in the green second prototype colors from before he was even named. One host is happy with the first release and might grab this one on clearance. The crew called it a very deep cut, even for them. [Source: TFW2005]

Decepticon Commander Pack Possible First Look

The Decepticon Commanders pack appears to be EarthSpark Warrior class Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave sold at a Voyager price, not three Voyagers. One host feels bad for fans who canceled Nemesis Bridge preorders expecting something better. [Source: TFW2005]

Transformers Legacy United Versus Multipack In-Hand Images

In-hand photos of the Target Legacy United four-pack show Tarn much bluer than expected, like a player two color swap. One host likes that it stands apart as the Cyberverse Tarn. One host loves Tarantulas, and Squeeze Play remains the draw. The crew also likes Cliffjumper more than expected. [Source: TFW2005]

Mattel Creations Hot Wheels Transformers Optimus Prime In-Hand Images

The Mattel Creations Hot Wheels Optimus Prime, a three-inch die-cast transformer, sold out in 15 to 21 minutes. It is already listed on eBay for about twice the price. Brian thinks Transformers collectors will be unhappy with it in hand. Diecast half wishes he had gotten one as an oddity. [Source: TFW2005]

Legacy United Star Raiders Thundertron 3-Pack In-Hand Images

In-hand photos of the Star Raiders Thundertron three-pack show its Thundertron rolled back toward the Transformers Prime colors. One host much prefers the more contrasty single release and thinks the eye patch needs paint to stand out. [Source: TFW2005]

GameStop Candy Con x Transformers Custom Controller Kits

GameStop’s Candy Con controller faceplates come in Hot Rod, Jazz, Devastator and Soundwave designs. They look fine, but each $17 faceplate needs a $35 to $50 Candy Con controller that supports PC and Switch. [Source: TFW2005]

Transformers 40th Anniversary G1 Megatron Stainless Steel Helmet by Castem

Castem’s 40th anniversary G1 Megatron helmet is stainless steel, weighs about 30 pounds and costs about $1,000. Diecast is passing, since he already has the GameStop version. The crew joked about the physical therapy and about using it as a mug. [Source: TFW2005]

What We Got This Week

Don

Don bought a Japanese convenience-store Mini-Con submarine in green and blue for $10 from Suruga-ya. Pure Donanomics paid for the rest: flipping thrift finds covered Studio Series Shockwave and most of Legacy United Cybertron Starscream. He prefers that Starscream’s more streamlined look. Amazon credit went to a second boxed reissue Ectotron for his Ghostbusters shelf. He also got a complete set of Fall of Cybertron Ruination with weapons and instructions for $50 from Razorwire9 on Twitter.

Diecast

Diecast got the EarthSpark Deluxe Terran Thrash and calls it frustrating to transform, with parts popping out as others tab in. It has little paint, and he prefers the Warrior class version.

Matt

Matt had nothing on topic this week.

Rob

Rob had nothing on topic this week.

Chris

Chris is still waiting on preorders.

Brian Kilby

Brian got the Cinemark 40th anniversary bucket and cups. Amazon shipped Commander Class Magmatron early, but it comes packed in robot mode, which disappointed him. It feels solid with tight joints, though the ankles roll inward. Brian likes it but is unsure who it is for, since no Commander has been on a store shelf where kids could see it. The crew agreed Commander and Titan class toys are aimed squarely at adult collectors.
