Listen · RFC 941

Hasbro’s Transformers Tuesday fan stream gives the first look at Studio Series Transformers One Airachnid and Alpha Trion for 2026. It also brings official reveals of Studio Series 86 Megatron and the last two Constructicons. A leaked PulseCon listing points to an Armada Nemesis Prime with a new Dark Saber, and a rumored Skybound animated series worries the crew. MPG-17 Style Gen Optimus Prime scans, eHobby’s resin garage kits and Beast Wars Funko Pops round out the news. In What We Got This Week, John calls Silverbolt a solid Voyager with six pounds of Superion, and Chris finds the Constructicon Commander set hard to justify.

Thanks, JD

Brian marks the annual JD Church episode. Sixteen years ago, JD sent Brian a random Google chat insisting he bring Radio Free Cybertron back. Brian credits, and jokingly blames, JD for everything the show and his collection have become since June 2009.

Transformers Tuesday Reveals Studio Series Airachnid and Alpha Trion

Hasbro’s Transformers Tuesday stream officially revealed Studio Series 86 Megatron, the last two Constructicons and Transformers One deluxe Starscream. It also gave the first official look at the Age of Extinction concept art KSI Widow toy. The genuinely new items were a gray prototype of a deluxe Transformers One Airachnid and a Voyager Alpha Trion for early 2026. One host is thrilled Megatron is listed for September or October. One host worries the gray Airachnid looks like a jumble, but another explains it is a 3D-printed model that will tighten up. He praises Takara Tomy’s engineers for the rotor that splits into spider legs at a deluxe price. The crew guesses the blue arm on Megatron’s box is just a highlight color, and welcomes the Grimlock package refresh. [Source: TFW2005]

Fan Poll: Non-Movie G1 Characters in Studio Series

The stream’s fan poll asked if collectors would welcome G1 characters who weren’t in the 1986 movie. Matt says the line has already dropped the 86 from its packaging, and he isn’t joking about a Studio Series AKOM. Another host adds that AKOM’s miscolored animation frames could inspire easy redecos. Others would welcome G2 Beachcomber and Seaspray, or Computron. The consensus is to throw it all in. [Source: TFW2005]

Rumor: Robert Kirkman Sells a Skybound Transformers Animated Series

Bleeding Cool reports Robert Kirkman has sold an animated series based on the Skybound Transformers and G.I. Joe comics. One host notes the same source broke the Skybound comics news, but a sale doesn’t guarantee production. He worries it will follow the tone of Invincible. Another has little hope for G1-based streaming series in general. A third expects Hasbro to let Kirkman do what he wants, given his track record. One host wants something like Prime or Animated, with heart, that he can share with his kids. [Source: Bleeding Cool]

PulseCon Exclusive Armada Nemesis Prime Listing Leaks

A leaked listing shows an Armada Nemesis Prime as a PulseCon exclusive. One host says JT Prime confirmed its new Dark Saber will be three Mini-Cons, not a static accessory. That host probably won’t buy it, though he hopes a Star Saber version follows. He notes JT also described a 2026 Red Alert pack with extra Mini-Cons at leader price. Another host wants to see the full set before paying an exclusive premium. He compares it to Loyal Subjects’ $120 Jem two-pack against $30 Walmart dolls. The crew expects PulseCon in the fall, clear of San Diego Comic-Con. [Source: TFW2005 Boards]

MPG-17 Style Gen Optimus Prime Scans From Generations 2025

Scans from the Generations 2025 book show MPG-17 Style Gen Optimus Prime. One host calls it a very expensive Earthrise Optimus Prime, and 5mm ports on a Masterpiece feel odd. Another sees a greatest-hits transformation drawing on Earthrise, Studio Series 86 and Age of Extinction. One host is glad Style Gen will be an ongoing MPG label. Brian says he’s done with Masterpiece, yet he preordered it anyway. [Source: TFW2005]

Symbiote Studios Laserbeak Shoulder Plush

Symbiote Studios revealed a Laserbeak plush that sits on your shoulder with magnets. The line also includes a Soundwave plush and Autobot and Decepticon throw pillows. One host says Disney parks sell many shoulder buddies like this and expects Buzzsaw next. Don suggests flag weights to clamp it through clothing, and another host says any flat disc magnet works. eHobby Licensed Garage Kits of Optimus Prime, Soundwave and Tarn

eHobby is selling licensed garage kits of Optimus Prime, Soundwave and Tarn in Japan. One host says eHobby bought a resin 3D printer and is selling unfinished prints with supports attached for about $20 to $22 each. Buyers clean, finish and paint them. He calls it a smart, inventory-free business model, but also really silly. Don sees it as a step toward his prediction that collectors will one day buy CAD files instead of toys. [Source: TFW2005]

Devastation Decepticon Troopers Two-Pack In Hand

In-hand photos show the Devastation Decepticon Troopers two-pack. Brian has several on order from Target because it includes a Seeker. One host notes it is the first reuse of the Runamuck and Runabout molds, and the Target-exclusive Runabout now sells for a lot. Another is considering canceling his preorder as his excitement fades. Funko Pop Sullies the Good Name of Beast Wars

Funko revealed a Beast Wars wave of Pop figures. Don calls them horrendous and the Megatron especially egregious. He admits the Blackarachnia head sculpt would look great on a better-proportioned figure. One host wonders how fast the Rhinox will hit clearance. [Source: TFW2005]

What We Got This Week

John DeLuna

John opened Age of the Primes Commander Silverbolt before the show and was surprised how gray he is. Without the six pounds of Superion, he is a standard Voyager at an effective $100. A screw fell out during transformation, but John likes the head sculpt and the big, stable ankles. The Superion brick barely changes form, and John says it shows the limits of this combiner approach. He’ll wait to combine Superion until he has every piece.

Chris

Chris got the Constructicon Commander two-pack with Long Haul and Hook. The Devastator thigh piece weighs 294 grams, more than either robot, and does nothing on its own. He calls Hook basically a Combiner Wars Aerialbot as a crane, though he likes Long Haul’s look. The Devastator joints are strong, but it is the first Commander Class set where he feels he didn’t get his money’s worth. Brian also sent him Studio Series 86 Galvatron from his wish list, a pretty redeco that cleansed his palate.

Don

Brian sent Don a Voyager Sentinel Prime to go with his Warrior Class version. Don found Skybite at Target, and he got Fans Hobby Armor Eagle, its take on Pretender Metalhawk with the full armor. He also has Star Convoy but leaves the review to Brian.

Matt

Matt got Star Convoy and absolutely loves him. The hollow legs store the Micromaster trailers, and the chest holds the core-class Hot Rodimus. The ratchets hold any pose, and a trailer hitch by his foot hints at more Battlestars to come.

Diecast

Diecast hit several Targets while traveling and found Skybite, which he calls really big for a Voyager. He also picked up Hashtag. At his home Target, he asked staff to check the back and finally got EarthSpark Soundwave. Diecast hopes the mold returns as a Soundblaster.

Rob

Matt sent Rob Legacy United Chromia, built on the Animated Prowl mold. Rob finally placed what the head reminds him of: Diana A from Mazinger Z. Brian sent him the leader-class Age of the Primes Megatronus the Fallen, which looks great but has a complex tank mode.

Brian

At Jungle Jim’s in Ohio, Brian found Ty bouncing Transformers balls, Pop Taters Optimus Prime, metal faction signs and his first Blokees Classic Class kits, Optimus Primal and Sentinel Prime. A Surugaya sale brought a sealed Ultra Magnus Kabaya kit, Beast Wars II pieces, a Transmetal Waspinator vs. Cheetor set, and Synergex Mechagodzilla Optimus Prime and Godzilla Megatron. He added the Transformers Universe Overbite and Repugnus set, plus Triple Takeover and Autobot bridge sets from Deep Discount. Brian likes but doesn’t love Star Optimus Prime, saying the extra articulation loses some G1 charm. A toy store visit added Submarauder, a boxed Landmine and a boxed G1 Jazz. From Mandarake he got the Kiss Players cassette three-pack, and he capped the week with a boxed Japanese white Astrotrain.
