AFA 85 Pre-Rub Megatron Sells for $133,000 at LCG Auctions
Brian follows high-end toy auctions from afar. An AFA 85 graded, first-release pre-rub Megatron opened at $20,000 and sold for $133,000. Brian suspects an investment firm bought it, comparing it to Logan Paul’s Pikachu card. One host puts the final bid near $111,200, with the buyer’s premium making up the rest. An AFA graded Omega Supreme sold for $44,000, and a sealed 1984 AFA 80 Optimus Prime brought $18,000. Kickback topped $3,000, while sealed Blurr and Kup sold for far less. One host says anything that costs more than his Corvette is out of reach. [Source: LCG Auctions]
Transformers x U.S. Soccer Federation Breakaway New Stock Images
Breakaway looks like Optimus Prime in USA colors and comes with a stand. Brian doesn’t hate it but is not buying. Don loves it as a keepsake of the World Cup coming to the United States. He compares it to Evac, the Universal Studios ride exclusive, and tells how he once handed a spare Evac to Chris McFeely. Another host might get it. No price has been reported, and guesses run from about $35 to $50. [Source: TFW2005]
TakaraTomy Overgear Ironhide and Blackout New Official In-Hand Images
The new images don’t change many minds. One host calls the designs nice but the gray palette dull. Another warms a little to Ironhide’s vehicle mode, which is not small next to the Studio Series Optimus Prime. Hasbro Pulse lists Ironhide at $119 and Blackout at $139. One host is glad he no longer feels he has to buy everything. [Source: TFW2005]
TFcon Los Angeles 2026 Exclusive Fans Hobby MB-24C Triggerman
The crew agrees this Triggerman is Falcon. One host says it is the last one he needs to complete the group and will pay anyone who grabs him one. Another host likes the old-school approach of repainting a similar robot as a new character. Another host points out that the jet mode is unique, since every figure in the set gets slight remolds. Transformers Studio Series Titan Class Grimlock
Age of Extinction Titan Class Grimlock went up for preorder at $190 and is still readily available. The crew wonders whether that places it between a Titan Junior and a full Titan. Brian is glad it exists and glad it saves him money. Its best feature, he says, is that the Leader Optimus Prime can ride on it. Don thinks it looks great for a movie Dinobot. He wants to see the transformation and would only buy it on sale. [Source: TFW2005]
HasLab Liokaiser New Stock Photos
Matt loves the combined mode but still dislikes the Killbison and Drillhorn shoulder assemblies. He praises Death Cobra, Hellbat and Guyhawk, with few hollow gaps. Brian asks whether the head is a little small, and one host agrees while praising the box. Diecast says Liokaiser doesn’t quite feel like a HasLab next to Studio Series Devastator. He will reserve judgment until he sees how stable the combined mode is. The crew debates what HasLab is for, from obscure characters to a Commander Class Omega Supreme. One host suggests a Marvel Legends-style made-to-order run instead. Don would like Magnaboss for Beast Wars fans, and one host hopes for a G1-style Metroplex. [Source: TFW2005]
Studio Series Transformers One Deluxe Thundercracker First Look
Brian can’t say why, but he likes it. Another host notes a substantial remold from Starscream, with new wings, head and weapons. He calls it well proportioned in both modes. One host plans to buy both Seekers to support Transformers One, even without a sequel. [Source: TFW2005]
New Burger King Transformers Toys
Burger King’s kids meal will include an Optimus Prime and a Bumblebee alongside other Hasbro brands. Brian owns a complete set of the 1985 McDonald’s St. Louis Happy Meal toys and several G2 Dairy Queen Optimus Primes. He is happily buying these, and his kids will be eating a lot of Burger King. Age of the Primes Deluxe Animated Ratchet In-Hand Images
Brian liked it until he saw it next to the original Animated Ratchet, which he calls superior. One host says the Trailbreaker mold’s dangling hands show more in Ratchet’s colors. The tools clip onto the outside of the backpack instead of storing inside. The crew is unhappy that Ratchet and Wreck-Gar are partial remolds that won’t match the rest of the Animated figures. One host also balks at $28 for a figure that small. [Source: TFW2005]
Auldey Alpha Action Elite Wave 4, Alpha Action Comics Wave 1 and Alpha Action Pulse Wave 1
The waves include Ultra Magnus, Shockwave, Thundercracker, Ironhide, Outback, Beachcomber, Buzzsaw and Shattered Glass figures. One host thinks a dark Shockwave may be an Astro Magnum homage. Don has only bought the Alpha Action Elite Stepper so far, though he praises the quality for about $20. Alpha Action Pulse adds tiny box-art-pose figures on Energon cubes, plus robot head keychains, including Shattered Glass Optimus Prime. [Source: TFW2005]
What We Got This Week
Brian bought a sealed Beast Wars Metals Quickstrike from Mandarake. It was cheap, relatively speaking, until DHL billed him $23 in import charges.
Diecast had nothing this week.
Matt got Transformers UK Compendium Volume 1, full of stories he has never read. He also got Studio Series Dark Awakening Optimus Prime, sold as the film Optimus Prime. He calls it almost exactly what he wanted, with a deeper red and spot-on head damage. He will likely skip the Megatron, but he was glad to pay full price for this Prime.
Rob got a transforming ice cream bar robot from AliExpress for about $6 or $7. It is about Deluxe size, with double-jointed knees, rocker ankles and a stick that becomes a sword. The bar’s panels turn into samurai flags on its back. The plastic feels brittle, but he calls the design far better than he expected. It is also on Amazon for about $17.99 with a coupon.
Don got the magenta Studio Series 86 Hot Rod. He is keeping it sealed for his movie shelf, since he is happy with his regular release.
