Rumor Says Beast Wars II Is Coming to Cartoon Network

New on the RFC Website
AlexJ33106 launches the weekly Fanfic Review with The Rubber Bung by Picard42, which Brian calls the world’s worst fanfic. Alex also reviews Contemplation by Blue Jackal and ATT World by Shadow Wing. MadMaxMFP’s first column is up, and Brian says it brings plenty of controversy. New polls ask about the best recent toy, Beast Machines and the Fox Kids edits to Beast Wars.
Trivia
Brian launches a name-that-clip trivia game. Listeners email the episode and series of a six-second audio clip, which is also posted on the website.
Fox Kids Edits Rant
The clip turns out to be from Feral Scream Part 1 in Beast Wars Season 3, and the line is cut from Fox Kids airings. Brian says Fox Kids is within its rights but he opposes the edit. He argues the whole Depth Charge character was built on that single line. The violence stayed in, so cutting a funny quip makes no sense to him. He admits he missed the episode because he was watching Richard Simmons’ Dream Maker.
Toy Review: Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia
Brian likes Blackarachnia’s paint job and spider mode, but lists numerous flaws. She is top-heavy and won’t stand on her own, and her spider legs pop off easily. Her hands do little beyond holding the web-shooter grappling hook, which won’t hold on to anything. Spider to robot is easy, but robot back to spider took him half an hour, and the instructions are unclear. He compares her to Scarem, Transmetal 2 Scarem and Transmetal Scavenger, and likes her better. She is his favorite Transmetal 2 after Optimus Minor, and he gives her a 7.5 out of 10.
Closing
Brian apologizes for the short broadcast, since the interview and feedback half of the show isn’t ready yet. Next week should bring a column from the Transformers Doc, the Metals Ravage review and possibly a review of the new Beast Machines episodes.
