BotCon Confirmation Mail Sent June 30

BotCon is less than a month away. According to the Hartmans, confirmation mail went out on June 30, so attendees should watch their mailboxes this week. John DeLuna asks anyone who receives it to post on ATT so everyone knows it is arriving. [Source: not found]

Race Against the Clock

Goldimus Prime takes up Brian’s challenge to review a stack of toys in under five minutes. He covers his G2 orange Constructicons, Fireflight, Swindle, Bumblebee, Seaspray and G2 Tank Megatron. Gold G2 Bumblebee gets a 7, and Goldimus says his online name comes from Bumblebee’s Prime version. Seaspray, Brian’s favorite, also gets a 7. G2 Tank Megatron gets a 10 as his first big Transformer. Scrapper and Bonecrusher get 6s, Scavenger a 5 and Long Haul an 8. Mixmaster and Fireflight have brick robot modes. Time runs out during Swindle, and he finishes anyway. He also opens a kitbashing section at goldimus.com and apologizes for recent sound quality.

ATT Buzz

John DeLuna has finished summer school and jokes about earning A’s in Spanish without speaking it. On a slow ATT week, he takes on robots in lousy disguises. Lamborghini police cars and fire chief cars fool no one, he says. Bluestreak and Optimus Prime make decent disguises, though Prime’s huge Autobot symbol does not help. He argues the Decepticons never cared about disguises at all. Another poster watched all 26 Beast Machines episodes and declared the ending terrible, sparking semi-flames. John expects more when Season 2 airs in the US this fall. He likes the middle of Season 2 but not the ending or the character designs.

Car Robots Episode 2 Review

The reviewer says the episode continues the G1 parallels from the first episode. The Destrongers try to steal a recurring woman’s car, which holds a power source or possibly a bomb. Gelshark debuts and appears to eat cars. Wildride mounts the device and web-slings through the city in vehicle mode. Fire Convoy forms Super Fire Convoy and blasts Gelshark into orbit, where the device explodes. Gelshark then explains his failure to Gigatron at the underwater base. The reviewer calls the episodes pretty average so far. Next week covers episode 3 and the JRX train combiner.

Ask RFC

A listener asks where to find Transformers erotica. The answer: it is out there in bits and pieces, and it is very, very bad.

Beast Wars Transmetals for PlayStation Review

Goldimus Prime follows up AlexJ33106’s text review with his own. The game first sold in Japan as Beast Wars Metals. Original voice actors include Garry Chalk as Optimus Primal, David Kaye as Megatron and Scott McNeil as Rattrap, Silverbolt and Waspinator. He finds the Blackarachnia sound-alike almost intolerable. He calls the graphics low-key, like early Quake models, but likes the arenas, especially the wasteland and cliffs. Simple charge-up moves make it easy for kids and fans. Secret characters include Tigatron, Ravage, Blackarachnia and Windrazor, the BotCon exclusive. He scores gameplay 7, graphics 4, sound 6 and challenge 7, and gives it 8 out of 10 overall.
