Ender’s embargo is lifted, and on this May 5, 2010 Radio Free Cybertron he shares what he saw playing Transformers: War for Cybertron. He calls it a well-made third-person shooter that looks just like Cybertron, with drop-in co-op and careful balance. Brian Kilby, JD, Rob Springer, John DeLuna and Exvee also cover Power Core Combiners Rally Bots and BotCon Sky-Byte. New Generations pre-orders and a Big Bad Toy Store gift certificate contest round out the show.
News
BotCon 2010 Sky-Byte
The crew talks about Sky-Byte in the BotCon set, built on the Energon Sharkticon mold. Rob loves it and calls Sky-Byte the reason to watch Robots in Disguise. Brian likes how the set looks, but his interest in paying for it is fading after spending on podcasting gear. [Source: not found]
Power Core Combiners Rally Bots and Destructicons Pictured
Entertainment Earth has pictures of the Power Core Combiners Rally Bots and Destructicons. One host hasn’t wanted a Transformer this badly since Animated. The crew compares the Rally Bot limbs to Puzzler and predicts a later recolor as Minotaur. They also note Hasbro is folding the movie line into one Transformers brand, which they call a smart move for shelf space. [Source: Entertainment Earth]
War for Cybertron Soundwave, Generations Red Alert and Bonzaitron Revealed
Pre-orders reveal War for Cybertron Soundwave, Generations Red Alert and Bonzaitron, a recolored Bludgeon. Only Bonzaitron has a picture so far. The crew remembers Bonzaitron as an Action Master and jokes about his comic sidekick Krok. The Hall of Fame bios for Soundwave, Jazz and Grimlock tie G1 into one continuity, which draws some mockery. Big Bad Toy Store Lists Generations Waves 2 and 3
Big Bad Toy Store has listed more than 25 newly announced figures. Generations deluxe series 2 includes Cybertron Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Megatron and Darkmount, which the crew insists is Straxus. Series 3 adds Cybertron Soundwave, Red Alert, Autobot Drift and Cybertron Bumblebee. [Source: Big Bad Toy Store]
This Week in Transformers History
JD notes that Beast Wars ended on May 6 and 7, 1999, with Nemesis parts one and two. The crew calls Nemesis part two great, despite a rushed ending.

War for Cybertron Preview
Ender played War for Cybertron as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Ratchet in two Autobot campaign sections, plus multiplayer. He calls it a well-made third-person shooter, probably the best Transformers game ever, but not one that will change your life. The campaign uses three-character squads, and friends can drop in and out of online co-op at any time. Characters fall into leader, soldier, scientist and scout classes. Soldiers run in blasting, while scouts like Bumblebee hang back with sniper rifles. Transforming puts you in a combat-ready hover mode first, so Ender found more reasons to transform.
Ender says the graphics are the highlight, and the game looks unmistakably like Cybertron. High Moon Studios built the game around making sense, from swept-back jet wings for camera views to Warpath and Brawl as tanks. The whole studio plays multiplayer for an hour every day to tune balance, and flyers don’t feel overpowered. Multiplayer lets players build custom characters from classes, but Autobots and Decepticons can’t swap sides. He saw Laserbeak, Soundwave making Energon cubes, Arcee and Slipstream. Ender rates it well above the PS2 Armada game. He says the developers were fans who pitched the idea to Hasbro themselves. The game comes out June 22.
Tony on War for Cybertron
Tony from the UK joins to ask about the game. Ender tells him it is awesome and explains the co-op and team versus modes. Tony’s only worry is not knowing which pre-order bonus figures UK stores will offer.
RFC Announcements
Brian reminds listeners to join RFC on Facebook to enter the contest. He also plugs the network’s other shows and the revived RFC Throwback.
