News

The Hub Launches With G1 Transformers

The Hub is on the air, and the crew finds it surreal to see the original Transformers cartoon with commercial breaks again. Its action block is called Hubbub, and reports say the channel is already doing better than the Discovery Kids network it replaced. The crew misses Jem. [Source: not found]

Bumblebee Collides With a Police Car on the Transformers 3 Set

During filming in Washington, D.C., the Bumblebee Camaro collided with a police cruiser heading to an emergency. It was a low-speed crash with no serious injuries. One host watched filming near the Capitol and saw the government Decepticon SUVs, though crowds were kept 100 to 150 yards back. [Source: not found]

Generations Kup and Perceptor Photos

Generations Kup is a modern pickup with a retro Kup chest and a rifle that doubles as a cane. Perceptor looks like a nice Deluxe, though his vehicle mode may need more paint. New Wreck-Gar photos look even better. [Source: not found]

Takara United Lugnut, Jazz and Tracks

Takara’s United repaint of Reveal the Shield Lugnut looks far better than the green Hasbro release, and Exvee may import it. Jazz looks small and simple in the latest photos, though his speaker-deployed vehicle mode works. Tracks’ winged car mode looks as bad as expected. [Source: not found]

Strafe Is a Mindwipe Repaint

Generations Strafe is a repaint of Mindwipe, which the crew finds pretty but not Strafe. The Autobot symbol is hidden in the deco, and the crew loves it. [Source: not found]

Transformers: Prime Preview Draws Optimus Complaints

A short Transformers: Prime preview has fans upset that Optimus Prime has no nose and sunken eyes. The crew expects the look to grow on fans as Animated did once the show airs. [Source: not found]

Collectors’ Club Sideburn Revealed

The Collectors’ Club revealed its Sideburn membership figure, which uses the original’s garish colors on a much better toy. Exvee confirms the head is not a new mold, and the asymmetric paint makes it look like one. [Source: not found]

Comics With LadyWreck

At New York Comic Con, IDW announced Ironhide and Sunstreaker will return in 2011 and the Animated AllSpark Almanacs will be reprinted. Four new Spotlights are coming, one with Nick Roche and James Roberts and another with Mauro. Individual Transformers: Prime issues begin in January.

John Barber will write a movie prequel, Rising Storm, with art by Carlos Magno, plus the Dark of the Moon adaptation. Infestation, a zombie crossover with G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters and Star Trek set in Las Vegas, arrives in February. Heart of Darkness, drawn by Ulysses Arenas, follows Galvatron in March. A Decepticons arc in the ongoing series in 2011 will bring back Megatron, redesigned by Don Figueroa.

Aimee found ongoing #12 so disappointing she has nothing to say about it, but recommends Drift, which ends next week. The Underbase has interviewed Alex Milne.

This Day in History

On October 13, 1986, the G1 episode Madman’s Paradise premiered. JD challenges listeners to send fan art of Grimlock’s apron as a supermode armor.

TFWiki Spotlight: Ultra Magnus

Chris McFeely spotlights TFWiki’s featured article on G1 Ultra Magnus, who did more than his reputation suggests. It covers his cartoon and Japanese appearances, the UK comics that made him Galvatron’s enemy, Alternity and much more. His toy page includes AM radios and many white Optimus Prime repaints.

11th Anniversary Contests

RFC’s 11th anniversary is Friday. Join facebook.com/tfradio by 7:30 p.m. Eastern on October 20 to be eligible for Darkmount. Leave a voicemail at 931-99-GOBOT for a chance to win War for Cybertron Megatron.

Chat Room Topics

The chat room supplies topics, from a Transformers and Pokemon crossover to which subgroup deserves its own sitcom. The crew pitches the Wreckers as a Band of Brothers series. They also want new alt modes like a Kettenkrad half-track and a shuttle crawler for Grandus, and Beast Wars animal modes for G1 characters.

Twitter Theater

Rob’s pick is a Takara commercial for the Microman Micro Change version of Blaster, a working radio, set to awkward music.
