Shout! Factory’s Beast Wars complete series box set, formerly exclusive to its online store, reaches regular retail November 1 for $55. San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives Show Up Online

Third-Party Devastator Projects

Pictures of the third-party Hercules not-Devastator are out, with the first piece at about $80 before shipping. One host thinks one third party’s not-Constructicons nail a modern take on the G1 toys. He likes that Hercules integrates the combiner parts, but its first robot mode looks rough. He’d rather see a third-party Piranacon. [Source: TFormers.com]

TFormers.com’s Comic-Con Coverage

Weebo points listeners to TFormers.com’s Comic-Con galleries and its roundtables with the Transformers Prime crew. Those included Jeff Kline, Mike Vogel, Duane Capizzi and character designer Jose Lopez.

Transformers Prime: Partners

Starscream offers to join the Autobots and admits he killed Cliffjumper, which he keeps from Arcee. One host jokes that Arcee keeps getting her partners killed. The crew is surprised she hands Starscream the key to his restraints before fighting him. Bumblebee playing dead after Airachnid’s immobilizer is a highlight. The crew calls Prime hit or miss, with stakes that haven’t grown and a gadget of the week. One host blames the CG budget for the limited new characters.

RFC Twitter Theater: Bike!

In a recorded segment, Rob picks the G1 clip where Sparkplug kicks Rumble off and leaps into the water yelling “Bike!” for Spike. He credits it to Fight or Flee, since nobody remembers what happened in that episode.

From the Chat

John reports the chat wants the Hercules Devastator but can’t afford it, and the crew asks why third parties keep returning to Devastator. One host calls him G1’s crappiest combiner, famous mainly for the movie. The chat also lists Prime’s loose threads, including zombie Skyquake, Wheeljack and Makeshift. The crew also names underused combiners, including Defensor and Abominus.

Comic-Con Recap

A Comic-Con video teases Unicron for Transformers Prime. The crew expects all of season two to build to him. IDW also announced Transformers 81, picking up the Marvel G1 comic after a time jump. One host doubts it reaches 12 of its planned 20 issues, and wishes for a story right after G2 #12 instead. Another will start buying the two new ongoings, More Than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise. The crew proposes an online campaign for an Animated comic. The crew likes the Prime toy reveals, and one host singles out Bulkhead and a boxy zombie Cliffjumper. Generations returns with Sky Shadow, the renamed Black Shadow, and Junk Heap, the third head made with Wreck-Gar’s mold. Human Alliance Soundwave comes with Patrick Dempsey’s character.
