Transformers Collectors’ Club Sideburn Ships

The club exclusive Sideburn is shipping this week, and the crew loves him. A TCC tweet explained that his paint apps are asymmetrical on purpose, after members complained the yellow covered only half his face. Another tweet invited members to make contact over issues other than broken parts. One host thinks the yellow visor sits a little low, but he is fine with his. Later the crew shows off the Robots in Disguise Car Robots molds, once loved for their asymmetric kibble. [Source: Transformers Collectors’ Club Twitter]

Masterpiece Rodimus Sighted at Toys R Us

Masterpiece Rodimus has turned up at Toys R Us stores in San Antonio, Wichita and Illinois for about $60 online. One host doesn’t expect a clearance price, noting Legends Devastator is still full price. Chatters report stores fielding calls all day. The crew thinks Rodimus needed a minimum production run since it required a new mold. [Source: not found]

More Pictures of Dark Steel

New pictures show Dark Steel, a Dark of the Moon Sideswipe recolor styled after Beast Wars Quickstrike. Some fans dislike it, but the crew calls it gorgeous. They note Hasbro modified the MechTech Starscream weapon to look more like a stinger. One host suspects Hasbro no longer has the Quickstrike name. [Source: not found]

Comic News With LadyWreck

Alex Milne posted dueling Optimus Prime covers for IDW’s Transformers #23, showing the present Prime and Orion Pax. The issue is out next Wednesday with a limited sketchbook. LadyWreck has a wallpaper of the covers on her DeviantArt page. On Transformers 81, she gives it 50-50 odds and is reading old Marvel comics to catch up. The crew recommends Titan’s Classic Transformers collections, and one host shows his BotCon 2001 signed hardcover.

RFC Network Updates

One host ran an Avengers panel at a small-town library convention, with JD Church and Chris McFeely joining by Skype; the video is on tfvideo.net. JD and Exvee appeared on Superhero Time. Get the Skinny returns next Tuesday, streaming live.

Should Hasbro and Paramount Care What Fans Think?

With Dark of the Moon past $1 billion, the crew asks whether Hasbro and Paramount should care about fan complaints. Most say no; fans don’t agree on what they want beyond Dinobots. They argue that G1-accurate designs would not work on film and that a fan-only film could flop like Watchmen. One host says fans’ G1 is really five minutes of Transformers: The Movie. Another credits the movies with funding Transformers Prime and better toys. The crew notes that Hasbro lost money in a year without a movie. They expect more films as long as each one earns more than the last.
