Transformers Prime: Darkness Rising DVD Up for Pre-Order

The five-part Transformers Prime: Darkness Rising DVD is up for pre-order on Amazon for $13.49. The crew hopes for a Blu-ray, since the show looks great in HD. One host has seen a Shout! Factory tweet promising extras. [Source: not found]

Dark of the Moon Home Video: Transforming Case, Best Buy Slipcovers and UK Trilogy Set

Germany is getting a transforming Megatron case for Dark of the Moon, though it is based on the first two movies’ design. Best Buy will have US slipcovers with Bumblebee on one side and Shockwave on the other. The crew jokes about how important Shockwave was to the movie. The UK has pre-orders for the movie trilogy set, about $40 on DVD and $50 on Blu-ray. US details are still to be determined. [Source: not found]

TFormers listed the relevant New York Comic Con panels, including Transformers Prime, the upcoming MMO and Hasbro brands, and will cover them in October. This Week in Comics

Aimee says IDW ongoing #26 is out and the next chapter, Cybertron Chaos, is here. She isn’t impressed or offended, but worries the story isn’t as epic as promised. Transformers Collectors’ Club magazine #42 wraps up year two of its Wings of Honor arc this December. That arc covers the Elite Guard nine million years ago, with a young Kup, Dion, Magnus, Sideburn and Optimus Prime. Flint Dille writes club fiction next year and is also writing Autocracy. Aimee hopes for crossover between the two.

Chat: Is the Wait for Transformers Prime Toys Hurting Interest?

John DeLuna asks the chat whether the slow pace of new Prime episodes and the lack of toys are hurting interest. Don says the Animated-style delay isn’t helping but he is still a little excited, and Diecast still can’t wait for the toys. One host notes Hasbro said it wanted Prime to be media-first rather than a toy commercial. Rob says that is admirable but isn’t serving Hasbro well. The crew suggests a few early teaser toys, like the Optimus and Megatron entertainment pack, would have helped. John praises the Starscream mold in person and says Ratchet is the figure people want most.

Miko

One host finally caught up on Transformers Prime and has joined the Miko-must-die bandwagon. The crew says she needs to stop being dumb and learn her lesson. One host jokes she would make a great Doctor Who companion.

TFWiki Spotlight: Kre-O

Chris McFeely spotlights Kre-O after buying some sets himself. The wiki gives each Kre-O character its own page, since they live in their own construction-brick world. The pages include the online bios: Megatron likes seafood restaurants, Bumblebee loves pranks and Mirage’s favorite spy is James Brick. The pages also link to the stop-motion Kre-O ads on YouTube.

Twitter Theater

Rob’s Twitter Theater pick is his bid to get Rhinox into the Transformers Hall of Fame, built around the Beast Wars scene where Rhinox farts. He jokes that Dinobot and Waspinator went in first.

This Week in History

JD Church marks September 21, 1999, when Rhino released Transformers volumes 1 through 3 on VHS in the US, both individually and as a three-pack.

Topic: Will There Be a Transformers 4?

Tyrese Gibson predicted that if Transformers 4 happens, Michael Bay and Shia LaBeouf will return. The crew says a fourth movie is no surprise, since Dark of the Moon made over $1.1 billion on a $200 million budget. One host says the movies send general audiences away entertained, even as fans debate them. The crew questions whether Bay wants to return. They say Sam’s story has run its course and his part in Dark of the Moon could have gone to any character. If the director and star change, one host argues against a reboot, since existing models save time and money. The crew would like a new Decepticon leader, like Galvatron or Jhiaxus.

Coming Up

New Soundwave follows, covering Gears of War 3 and Transformers on the Commodore 64.
