Masterpiece Ultra Magnus with Trailer Announced

Big Bad Toy Store opens preorders for MP-22 Masterpiece Ultra Magnus, built around the MP-10 Optimus Prime mold with trailer armor. The crew’s reaction is a unanimous meh. One host sees Takara chasing third-party popularity, while another thinks Takara wants a high-end line like Hot Toys. A 2011 hand-built prototype by Takara designer Shogo Hasui suggests how it might work. [Source: not found]

Q&A with Rob Springer

A listener asks what the next Transformers show will be and whether more Cybertron games are coming. Rob expects the next series to start with a special, as Animated and Prime did, within the Aligned setting. He thinks another Cybertron game is likely, possibly set off Cybertron or on Earth.

The Masterpiece Ultra Magnus Bet

Brian bets that Masterpiece Ultra Magnus will be too big and costly for a US release. Diecast and most of the crew disagree. If no US release is announced by Charticon 2015, Brian wins. The loser must wear a shirt at Charticon saying he lost the bet. One host suspects Big Bad Toy Store’s announcement is testing the waters.

Transformers Rewind: Changing Gears

Brian, Diecast, Don and Matt rewind the G1 episode Changing Gears. Brian loves it because Gears is such a cantankerous character and the plot is so unabashedly silly. Don dislikes it, calling the solar needle science absurd even for G1. Diecast, watching for the first time, says Gears had more personality than any G1 character he has seen. Another host praises season 2’s focus episodes for character development.
