Hasbro let fans vote on the next Titan Class figure: Trypticon, Omega Supreme or Scorponok. John, Rob Clay, Matt and Don weigh each choice on engineering, alt mode and fan appeal. Rob and Matt lean Scorponok, while Don went against the grain for an Animated-style Omega Supreme. Matt predicts Trypticon runs away with it.
Hasbro’s Titan Fan Vote
Hasbro ran a short fan vote on Facebook to pick the next Titan Class figure from Scorponok, Trypticon and Omega Supreme. [Source: Seibertron] Rob voted Scorponok because he wants one, though he calls it the least interesting engineering choice. He notes ExVee campaigned for Trypticon with a dinosaur-head Titan Master. Matt is not on Facebook but would have picked Scorponok to match the Headmaster focus, and he expects Trypticon to win. Don voted Omega Supreme, expecting the other two to come later anyway.
An Animated-Style Omega Supreme
Don wants Omega Supreme done as a triple changer inspired by Transformers Animated. That means a robot, an Ark-style ship and a base with G1 design cues. He thinks it would also be a natural counterpart to Titan Class Devastator. Rob thinks a modern alt mode couldn’t hurt. Matt, a big Animated fan, would love it but expects Hasbro to stick with the G1 rocket base. John pitches going all in on the Ark as a true playset for Legends-scale figures.
What if G2 Devastator Were on the Ballot?
John asks what a trollish fourth option, G2 yellow Devastator, would do to the vote. Don thinks it would tighten the race, since many G1 collectors don’t love G2. Rob prefers orange and thinks it would skew things. Matt thinks voters would ignore it in favor of a new mold. Matt also notes Japan’s Diaclone revival, which still surprises John.
Are Fan Polls a Good Idea?
Rob thinks Hasbro played it smart by keeping the voting window short enough to block organized trolling. He expects all three Titans eventually if sales hold up. Matt and Don agree and see the poll as Hasbro choosing which to tool first.
Second Uses for Each Mold
Omega Supreme has a Sentinel-style repaint, and Scorponok has Black Zarak. Trypticon could go Gigastorm, which the crew jokes would mean a horn and fewer features. Rob doubts Hasbro worries about reuse at the Titan price. Matt is still waiting on a Metro Titan. Don pitches a Dinobot-colored Trypticon as a new Autobot base for the Dinobots and a counter to Metro Titan. He would also take an Encore Black Zarak. Matt passed on a licensed Black Zarak statue because it doesn’t transform. Rob calls Scorponok’s transformation simple.
