MP-56 Revealed: Trailbreaker

TakaraTomy revealed Masterpiece MP-56 Trailbreaker at a list price just under 20,000 yen. With the yen near 130 to the dollar, the crew notes US preorders around $152, and about $130 through Amazon Japan. Chris warns that Amazon Japan preorders lock in after a few weeks, so a bad exchange-rate swing can hurt. Matt says strict cartoon accuracy tends to hamper Masterpiece toys, and he prefers the Skids style. Diecast prefers the Fans Toys proportions but likes this vehicle mode better, and plans to get both. Don preordered it because Trailbreaker is a favorite with little representation. The crew sees plenty of redeco potential, from Diaclone colors to an eventual Hoist. [Source: TFRadio]

The Wreck ‘N Rule Collection: 2022’s Amazon Subline

Amazon’s third exclusive subline is the Wreck ‘N Rule Collection, a set of Wreckers-themed War for Cybertron Trilogy redecos. Impactor gets a new chest, a Marvel UK-style head and a modified cannon, and comes with Spindle, a Spinosaurus Fossilizer retool. Per Mark Maher on Instagram, the new parts share tooling, which explains the shared colors. Matt is always happy to get an Impactor, while Don has little use for Fossilizers. Leadfoot with Mastodon is the crew favorite. Two hosts have wanted a Generations Leadfoot for years, and the Mastodon built from a Styracosaurus skeleton impresses everyone. [Source: TFRadio]

Wreck ‘N Rule Collection: Day Three Reveal

Day three brought Springer in toy colors, a straight redeco with no pack-in figure. The crew agrees it is far too gray. Chris points out the G1 Springer toy was never good, and the toy needs tampo detail like the yellow shoulder stickers. The Wreckers Hammer piece, per JT Prime, is a paper craft rather than a toy accessory. Talk drifts into a joking pitch for a Five Faces of Darkness animation-error capsule. [Source: TFRadio]

TakaraTomy Reveals Next Studio Series Deluxe Assortment

TakaraTomy revealed the next Studio Series deluxes ahead of Hasbro: Revenge of the Fallen Sideways, Dark of the Moon Bumblebee and Studio Series 86 Arcee. Chris calls the Bumblebee confusion Bumble blindness. Arcee drew the most reaction. Chris estimates it is about 30 percent Thrilling 30 Arcee, with a new waist swivel and a fully enclosing car shell. The crew is baffled by the choice. Rob still prefers the Thrilling 30 toy, and one host wants Arcee bumped to Voyager with the Hot Rod treatment. [Source: TFRadio]

LEGO Optimus Prime

An official LEGO Optimus Prime was acknowledged, and a review sample briefly appeared on The Brothers Brick before coming down within minutes. The set was designed by former Hasbro designer Joe Kite. It stands taller than Masterpiece MP-10 and transforms much like the G1 toy. One host says the face will haunt him, but he still plans to buy it. John notes in Discord that it is similar in scale to LEGO Voltron and should arrive in June. [Source: not found]

What We Got This Week

Diecast got Legacy Dragstrip, his first Legacy figure, and is impressed with the robot mode. He also landed Transformers Cloud Rodimus on the Thrilling 30 Springer mold for about $120 shipped, with packaging in fine shape despite the damaged listing.

Matt got Core Class Iguanus, a very poseable little figure despite its Pretender-style bike mode.

Don found Kingdom Tracks on clearance and Walmart’s Legacy exclusives Sandstorm and Nightprowler. He also got a carded Cybershark and a new Fans Toys Swoop after his old one broke. He hopes to have the broken one repaired and repainted in G2 Swoop colors.

Rob got the Beast Wars reissue Scorponok from Don and admired its elaborate little bee drone. He says he now prefers simpler transformations.
