News

2024 Studio Series Commander Listing Found: 86 Optimus Prime

JTPrime broke the news of a Studio Series 86 Commander Class Optimus Prime for 2024. Don thinks Earthrise Optimus Prime may still be the last Optimus anyone needs. He wants the Commander budget spent on a better robot, not a Leader with extra junk. Another host says Earthrise is covered in Siege ports and has room to improve. JTPrime’s hint of a mini MP-44 worries the crew. One host plans to keep MP-01 and MP-10 but let MP-44 go. Another floats a box that converts into a battle backdrop, and the crew argues whether Megatron could ever be a gun again. [Source: TFW2005]

Transformers HasLab Deathsaurus En Route in the US

HasLab Deathsaurus and the H.I.S.S. Tank have begun shipping. Brian has only a pre-shipping notice so far. One host confirms they ship by FedEx and need a signature on delivery. Hasbro wants backers to have them before Christmas, but that is not guaranteed. [Source: TFW2005]

Takara Tomy Transformers Lunar Cruiser Prime Production Sample Images

Production samples of Lunar Cruiser Prime still impress. One host bought it, possibly more than once. Another passes, saying the crossover does not fit his collection. [Source: TFW2005]

Legacy United Core Class Tasmania Kid and Other 2024 Figures Show Up In Hand

It is December, so early 2024 toys are turning up. In-hand photos cover Legacy United Thundertron, Animated Optimus Prime, Tasmania Kid and Energon Megatron, plus the Reactivate Starscream and Bumblebee pack. One host will grab Animated Optimus Prime if he sees it. Core Class Energon Megatron gets a pass while one host holds out for Galvatron. Thundertron looks decent but is an easy skip for another host. Transformers: Reactivate Update: No New Content This Year, Switching to Unreal Engine 5

The Reactivate team will show no new content before 2024 and is moving from Unreal Engine 4 to 5. Brian worries the switch means lost work and that the game will be shelved. Another host sees an upside: a newer engine should look better at launch. One host adds that the newest engine may ease ports. He worries more that a free-to-play live service game is a tough sell in a shrinking market. [Source: TFW2005]

Yolopark AMK Pro Series G1 Megatron Purple Version Revealed for Singapore Comic Con 2023

Chris added this one for Diecast, who likes Yolopark kits. Diecast admits it looks nice but wishes it had reformatting gridlines, and he expects it to be hard to get. He is content with the standard G1 Megatron he has coming. Diecast also notes Yolopark has a G1 Optimus Prime on the way. [Source: TFW2005]

What We Got This Week

Don

Don got the Reactivate Optimus Prime and Soundwave two-pack at GameStop. Optimus Prime’s vehicle mode cleans up better than Studio Series 102 Optimus, and it borrows from Classics Optimus. Don calls Optimus the star of the set. Soundwave is a decent figure, if fiddly in vehicle mode. He also got Walgreens-exclusive Legacy Medix from Hasbro Pulse. From a Japanese shop, he got EarthSpark Starscream for about $20 with free shipping. He also got Thunder Machine Soundwave. After selling the G.I. Joe figures, he has about $35 in it.

Diecast

Diecast found a pizza-themed BotBots vehicle set at Ross. He says the tiny bot is so hard to transform it would frustrate a kid. He also found Kickback and the toy-deco Terrorsaur at Ross.

Matt

Matt got Walgreens-exclusive Legacy Medix from Hasbro Pulse. He calls it his favorite version of the mold, despite a little paint slop on the collar. He also bought two Legacy Trashmasters on sale. One stays in dump truck mode, and the other became a giant trash dinosaur built from his Junkions. That build inspired the episode title, Choose Your Own Adventure Junkion.

Rob

Rob got a limited Rise of the Beasts promotional Battle Masters figure, the Burning Plasma Blaster, for about $7. It will likely go to his Crosshairs.
