I think I may have a problem

FOMO is real, and Threezero’s MDLX G2 Megatron exclusive is built to trigger it. The crew talks about buying less while Hasbro sets up the 2024 Titan reveal. Plus Chris reviews Stranger Things Code Red.

Listen · RFC 859

Threezero’s limited MDLX G2 Megatron exclusive tests the crew’s resolve, with only 50 units on Threezero’s own store.

That fits the theme of the week: FOMO is real, and the crew talks frankly about buying less.

Hasbro will reveal the 2024 Titan at Singapore’s Cybertron Fest, and the crew is ready for Tidal Wave.

Chris reviews the Stranger Things collaborative Code Red in What We Got This Week.

News

Threezero G2 Megatron Exclusive

Threezero’s MDLX G2 Megatron is a limited exclusive tied to a Hong Kong convention. One host reports that Threezero’s own store outside Asia will sell just 50, and Big Bad Toy Store got 49. One host is glad he does not want it, saying the face is wrong. Another kind of wants it and needs to know the price. The crew likes seeing G2 get attention, even if it will be hard to get. One host also eyes a Woolworths G2 Megatron watch on eBay for about $300. [Source: TFW2005]

Legacy United Titan Tidal Wave to Be Revealed at Cybertron Fest 2023

Hasbro will show a first look at the 2024 Titan at Cybertron Fest in Singapore on December 9 and 10. The event will also debut the Year of the Dragon figure. A Takara Tomy limited Trainbot set prompts one host to consider selling his Masterpiece Trainbots. For several hosts, this is the first Titan in a while they actually want. One host calls Armada Tidal Wave his single favorite Armada toy. The crew debates colors, with Energon colors high on the wish list for a later release. [Source: TFW2005]

Transformers: Beast Wars BWVS-04 Tigatron vs. Blackarachnia In-Hand Images

One host has mixed feelings on Takara Tomy’s Blackarachnia. The paint is excellent, but the bare plastic looks close to the Hasbro color. Under the wrong lighting, that contrast could stand out. The crew also notes the Hasbro Tigatron toys yellowed early. [Source: TFW2005]

Unused Legacy Straxus Art First Look

Concept art reveals a planned Legacy animated series that Netflix declined. It would have come from the team behind the War for Cybertron trilogy. Most of the crew is glad it did not happen. One host says Straxus gives off Arnim Zola vibes. Another would have liked to see what the concept could have been. [Source: TFW2005]

Transformers Reactivate Optimus Prime and Soundwave 2-Pack Found at US Retail

The Reactivate Optimus Prime and Soundwave two-pack is turning up at GameStop. That matches Ben’s estimate on Transformers Tuesday that pre-orders would ship by the end of the year. The crew likes the packaging but plans to wait for clearance. [Source: TFW2005]

Transformers x Stranger Things Code Red Found at Target

Code Red has been found at an Ohio Target and is also shipping from Target online. Chris has one in hand and covers it below. [Source: TFW2005]

FOMO and Collecting Less

One host apologizes to anyone he influenced into buying something they did not want or need. He says the podcast itself fed his fear of missing out. One host passed on Legacy United Core Class figures found in Canada, keeping only Chase on his list. A Discord member reminded the crew that “I got nothing this week” is a fine answer. Another host notes that much of what he bought later went on sale for Black Friday. One host took about 14 bushels of loose toys to McKay’s, a local used bookstore. He will also drop sealed extras, like a black Lio Convoy, in a Toys for Tots box.

What We Got This Week

Chris

Chris got the Stranger Things collaborative Code Red. It shares less engineering with Earthrise Ironhide than expected, and the feet tuck neatly into the van body. Code Red is smaller than Ironhide as a vehicle but much taller as a robot. His complaints are mismatched clear plastic and short, stubby arms. The axe and club peg together into a long pole axe, and the pizza packaging is a fun touch. With Target coupons and credits, he paid under $20 shipped.

Diecast

Diecast got a Ravage cage accessory on clearance after breaking his first one. He picked up two more Super7 ReAction Sharkticons, for three in all, to pair with Legends-scale figures. He also found Magic Square’s Dead End and Drag Strip on sale, even though he already had a set.

Brian

Brian had nothing in Transformers this week.

Matt

Matt had nothing in Transformers this week.

Don

Don bought the G.I. Joe crossover Bumblebee once it got cheap, and plans to sell the Stalker figure. He added the ReAction Quintesson to his movie display and got Code Red, still unopened. He found Magic Square’s Legends-scale Jetfire for about half price. The last Magic Square Combaticon, Blast Off, arrived, so he can now form Bruticus. From the Hasbro Pulse sale, he got a second Volvo Optimus Prime and a second Stunticons box set for $135. He also used Target savings to get Movie Masterpiece Bonecrusher for about $98.
