Transformers Night on The Masked Singer

Don watched the Transformers-themed episode of The Masked Singer and calls it a letdown. The songs came mostly from Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon. The background music used the G1 theme, while the Optimus Prime and Bumblebee designs came from Rise of the Beasts. There was no Linkin Park and nothing from the 1986 movie soundtrack, not even The Touch. Don went in expecting little and still came away disappointed.

Transformers x G.I. Joe Crossover Movie Officially Announced at CinemaCon 2024

A Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie was announced at CinemaCon, with Steven Spielberg as executive producer. The crew says it should have happened around Dark of the Moon, when the films leaned hardest on the military. One host is hopeful, while another refuses to get excited until he sees it. Brian finally watched Rise of the Beasts and liked it. One host would love a revival of Human Alliance-style figures from the movie. [Source: TFW2005]

Paramount Extends Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s Contract

Paramount extended producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s deal, and the crew jokes it sounds like a prison sentence. They break down the difference between a producer and an executive producer. Brian recalls photographing Spielberg at a Universal Studios Transformers event where low fireworks burned a hole in his shirt. [Source: Deadline]

Transformers One Official Logo Revealed

The Transformers One logo is out, and it says Transformers One. The crew finds it tells them nothing beyond a golden-age Cybertron look. Brian is glad he no longer has to write a news post for every tiny movie update. [Source: TFW2005]

Transformers One Trailer to Premiere in Space, Yes Outer Space

Paramount plans to launch a device about 125,000 feet up and stream the trailer from there. The crew does not understand the logistics. They agree it would be funnier if the stunt went wrong. [Source: TFW2005]

Transformers One New Merchandise: Popcorn Bucket, Cup and More

Better photos show the Transformers One Optimus Prime popcorn bucket, a cup and what look like cup toppers. A photo of a Studio Series Deluxe Transformers One Optimus Prime also turned up in the comments. The crew finds its warm gray plastic very beige next to the face paint. One host likes that it iterates on Optimus Prime without being a boxy truck. Another hopes the final gray is cooler. [Source: TFW2005]

Robosen Megatron to Debut on Hasbro Pulse Livestream April 25

Robosen’s next flagship auto-transforming robot is Megatron, debuting on an April 25 livestream. The crew expects a tank mode. One host thinks a tank limits the audience, since Robosen’s buyers want transformation. Another counters that a motorized tank to chase cats is a perk. Wish lists include the Datsun cars, Soundwave and Hot Rod. [Source: Hasbro Pulse]

Legacy United Magmatron Comparison With Beast Wars Neo Magmatron

In-hand photos of Commander Class Magmatron include size comparisons with the original Beast Wars Neo toy. The new one is substantially larger and nicer, missing only some painted hand detail. The crew notes how rare it is for a new take to come out bigger than the original. Commander Class Jetfire and the Shattered Glass Optimus Prime and Ratchet two-pack are also getting reissues. Legacy United Squeezeplay on Mark Maher’s Instagram

Mark Maher shared Legacy Squeezeplay, posed next to a still-boxed Fangry. The crew loves the face. The khaki limb color follows the Masterforce animation model, but the paint over blue and purple plastic shifts toward green. One host appreciates that the team sculpted Browning as an accessory instead of reusing a gun. [Source: Instagram]

Hallmark Holiday Optimus Prime Keepsake Ornament

Hallmark revealed a holiday Optimus Prime ornament with a Santa hat and beard, in the holiday Optimus Prime colors. Brian collects the Transformers ornaments and is getting this one. He loves how much character it has compared to past toy-accurate designs. [Source: Hallmark]

What We Got This Week

John DeLuna

John DeLuna had nothing in Transformers this week.

Diecast

Diecast’s packages are at home, so he talked about the Core Class Dias figure from his bag. He calls it a decent Core Class figure with waist articulation, though not a great Transformer.

Matt

Matt had nothing in Transformers this week; he had to put tires on his car.

Don

Don got Chromia and Shard from Hasbro Pulse and a Scorponok in a Target sale. He also found a leader Optimus Prime at Target and got it for about $21 with the 30% off sale. At Nerd Bombers in Greensboro he picked up Super7 Ultimates Alligaticon and Rick Gar from the clearance bin. His last pickup was the Beast Wars ghost Starscream and Waspinator set. Don likes the premium Waspinator paint and calls the translucent Starscream gorgeous.

Rob

Rob got Frenzy Red from CMD Store. He also ordered the Yolopark four-inch Optimus Prime kit for about $13, though he liked their Megatron a little more. A Discord tip led him to a $13 copy of Cerebros from Legends Fortress Maximus. He is not naming the site, and it appears to lack electronics. He was happy to get the Japanese headmaster and a third of the Master Sword.

Chris

Chris had nothing in Transformers this week.

Brian Kilby

Brian got Gears from CMD Store and calls it his favorite toy in a long time. He wishes the chest piece were not packed separately. Legacy Silverbolt was a letdown that just misses the mark, so he left Cybertron Starscream boxed. He genuinely loves Core Class Cheetor and calls it the best Beast Machines Cheetor. He also bought BotCon Astrotrain on eBay, which came with a Beast Box Wasp from Jesse Wittenrich. His last pickup was a boxed Machine Wars Sandstorm, which may complete his sealed Machine Wars set.
