It’s a Small Toy Afterall

Star Optimus Prime stands 15 inches tall, and Fugitive Waspinator is a small toy after all. The crew digs into the Cybertron Con 2024 reveals, from Solus Prime and a blue G2 Grimlock to a polarizing Superion.

Listen · RFC 913

The crew digs deeper into the Cybertron Con 2024 reveals, starting with a Fugitive Waspinator that is a small toy after all. Star Optimus Prime turns out to be 15 inches of chunky Star Convoy, and Don sees the new smaller Titan price point opening the door to Magnaboss and Tripredacus. The panel splits on the Age of the Primes Superion skeleton, sizes up Solus Prime, Prima Prime and a blue G2 Grimlock, and weighs the Sonic the Hedgehog Collaborative. In What We Got This Week, Rob braves Missing Link Bumblebee’s stiff joints and Brian admits to a Walmart cart full of retro Bombshells.

Elf on the Shelf Warmer

With the Elf on the Shelf Warmer campaign in its final days, Brian urged listeners to buy a toy and drop it in a Toys for Tots box. He gave a shout-out to Miguel’s huge donation of a Mega Construx Castle Grayskull.

Age of the Primes Solus Prime and Fugitive Waspinator Revealed

Official images show Age of the Primes Solus Prime and Fugitive Waspinator, which the crew missed in last week’s Cybertron Con coverage. Waspinator looks good but small for its deluxe price, prompting the line “It’s a small toy after all.” Rob praised Solus Prime’s arms, which look like they swing a hammer, and her blacksmith’s apron. The crew floated Pyra Magna, Moonracer or Firestar as possible future uses of the mold. [Source: BWTF]

Age of the Primes Prima Prime and Red Alert Detailed

New images of Age of the Primes Prima Prime and Red Alert followed the Cybertron Con reveals. One host noted the Primes and Star Optimus Prime were the only items to sell out on Hasbro Pulse so far. The crew liked Prima’s Star Saber. Don loves the look but feels Prima needs a little more color somewhere, and others suggested a touch of brighter silver. [Source: BWTF]

Age of the Primes Leader Class Reveals Bring a Blue G2 Grimlock

The Age of the Primes leader class reveals include G2 Grimlock in dark blue, packed with Wheelie in his Wild Boy of Quintessa colors. Brian really wants it, even though it makes him feel silly about how many versions of the mold he owns. One host is torn between the Tiger Force and comic versions of Grimlock. The crew also confirmed that Megatronus’s flame pieces come off. [Source: BWTF]

Star Optimus Prime Revealed at 15 Inches Tall

Age of the Primes Star Optimus Prime, the crew’s Star Convoy, is far larger than expected. According to Chris in the Discord, Mark said directly it stands 15 inches tall, and Superion only reaches the bottom of its chest. Don sees this smaller, cheaper Titan price point opening the door to Magnaboss, Tripredacus, Road Caesar and JRX Rail Racer. One host thinks the base mode could even support a Powermaster Optimus Prime. [Source: BWTF]

The Aerialbots Return in Age of the Primes

Superion’s skeleton mode proved polarizing. Diecast dislikes how the leg panels are colored, while others love the figure. The crew agreed Air Raid and Slingshot look better than their Combiner Wars versions, and Slingshot arrives with the team this time. Don pointed out Slingshot’s square chest is perfect for a third-party Rolls-Royce add-on. [Source: BWTF]

Transformers x Sonic the Hedgehog Collaborative Revealed

The Collaborative Sonic the Hedgehog set turns Sonic and Tails into Blue Booster and Wingtail. The car resembles Sonic’s ride from Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, and Tails is his biplane from Sonic 2 and 3. Don has a soft spot for biplane alt modes, one host is tempted for the same reason, and the crew noted the set costs $10 less on Hasbro Pulse than at Target. [Source: BWTF]

Yolopark AMK Pro Rise of the Beasts Optimus Prime Color Prototype

Yolopark showed a color prototype of its AMK Pro Rise of the Beasts Optimus Prime. Diecast might grab it on sale but won’t pre-order. He would rather have Yolopark’s Last Knight Optimus Prime, since that design is hard to do well as a transforming toy. [Source: TFW2005]

Authentics Alpha Class Mirage Revealed

Mexican retailer Soriana gave the first look at Authentics Alpha Class Mirage. Don, a longtime Mirage fan, finds it a little lanky but will pick one up if he sees it. The crew liked the vehicle mode and the bright box, which they felt beats the dark Age of the Primes packaging for shelf presence. [Source: BWTF]

What We Got This Week

Diecast

Diecast landed a Bombshell from Walmart. He also transformed his FansToys Ultra Magnus and called the cab an absolute nightmare, which worries him about the upcoming Optimus Prime on the same mold.

Matt

Matt got Bombshell for the Ramhorn and now needs the other two Insecticons. Walmart’s $29 leader three-pack gave him Thundertron, Nightstrike and a Rock Lord. Thundertron gives his pirates a captain, though the Rock Lord does nothing for him.

Don

Don used a Target sale to add two more Gamer Edition drones as cannon fodder for his display. He found the Super7 Megatron about $35 cheaper on Walmart.com to stand with his Unicrons. A new third-party Legends-class Nosecone arrived for a Technobots Computron, and Magic Square’s masterpiece-scale Swindle starts his new G1 Bruticus.

John DeLuna

John DeLuna had nothing in Transformers this week.

Rob

Rob got Legacy Slipstream from Diecast and found the chest paint mismatch more severe in person. Missing Link Bumblebee from Suruga-ya is scary to transform because of very stiff joints. He also picked up Star Raiders Lockdown, Cannonball and Filch, the Kingdom Airazor remold he really likes.

Brian

Brian picked up Uno Flip Transformers after a tip from Chris Triplett. He admits he bought a stack of retro Bombshells and has 99 sitting in his Walmart cart, though he swears he is not buying more. He also got a 2025 Transformers calendar with 600 stickers, since 2025 lines up with 1986.
