Listen · RFC 986

An officially licensed Safety Megatron from Yolopark is finally real, and Brian has already ordered two. A 2027 Studio Series Commander listing confirms a Studio Series 86 Rodimus Prime, and Missing Link Ironhide’s first image has the crew decoding how it transforms. Takara Tomy’s Nemesis Star Convoy and Dr. Wu’s War Within Devastator round out the news. In What We Got This Week, Brian calls Missing Link Ultra Magnus phenomenal, and Don’s Bingo Toys Strafe comes with an enormous Computron hand.

News

2027 Studio Series Commander Listing Found: 86 Rodimus Prime

Nobody is surprised. One host recalled an interview saying a Studio Series 86 Rodimus Prime would get a new pass. Another can’t see a fully new mold since the Kingdom toy was nearly perfect, and expects an extensive partial retool like Cyclonus or Springer. One host says Kingdom Rodimus never gelled with him and dreams of a Missing Link Rodimus Prime. One host needs it and hates that he needs it. Don pitched an all-in-one Commander Class Rodimus with the trailer built in. The crew pointed out that’s Titanium Rodimus Prime, and nobody wants that. [Source: TFW2005]

Takara Tomy New Legends NL-03 Nemesis Star Convoy Color Image

It’s a black repaint of the Titan Class Star Convoy, and one host needs it. Don has the Titan Star Convoy and doesn’t need every black Optimus repaint. One host first thought it was a Missing Link Star Convoy and got excited. That led to wishes for a G1-style Super Megatron, a character the crew thinks has only appeared in manga. [Source: TFW2005]

Robosen Elite Optimus Prime Trailer Kit Official Reveal

Robosen’s converting trailer for its Elite Optimus Prime costs $1,000. With Diecast away for his wife’s birthday, the crew told him to buy it anyway, for science. [Source: TFW2005]

Takara Tomy Missing Link C-14 Ironhide First Color Image

Missing Link Ironhide has yellow eyes, which no one remembers from any toy or animation. One host thinks this mode imagines the G1 toy designed as a person from the start, not a Diaclone walker with a face sticker. He loves that the old face sticker is reproduced in paint and sculpt on the chest. Another wondered if the yellow eyes come from the Marvel comic. The crew tried to work out how it transforms. They suspect the head and arms connect to the sled, and a separate piece may complete the lower body. One host called Missing Link the greatest line. [Source: TFW2005]

Yolopark AMK Mini Decepticon Avatar Megatron Images

This is Safety Megatron, the BotCon 2026 exclusive. Aaron Archer designed a G1 reissue Megatron in safety colors, and it never got made. Fans wanted it for years, and now Yolopark has made an officially licensed version. Brian bought two and calls it the best. Another host ordered one, and even those who skip it are happy it exists. Hot Wheels x Transformers Twin Mill (Red) Stock Images

Matt called the red repaint, and JT Prime says it’s a Target exclusive alongside the next wave. Don likes it but hoped for fewer repaints this early, and wishes it had a new name. One host noted Twin Mill is Hot Wheels’ official name for the car design, so a new name is unlikely. [Source: TFW2005]

Dr Wu DW-ES03 Cyber Mixer Truck & DW-ES06 Cyber Excavator and Cyber Hercules (War Within Devastator) Color Prototypes

Matt loves the War Within designs. Another host says Dr. Wu does good work, but the head just doesn’t read as Devastator to him. Don expects the two-packs to run $39 to $44, or roughly $120 to $135 for the full Devastator. [Source: TFW2005]

DNA Design DK-24B Upgrade Kit for Studio Series G2 Grimlock (Blue)

Don expected it after DNA Design’s G2 Slag and Swoop kits. He says it isn’t expensive if you want all your G2 Dinobots to match, though Swoop already comes with extra swords. [Source: TFW2005]

What We Got This Week

Don

Don picked up Star Eagle, the Airazor mold with Beast Wars Prowl vibes, to keep boxed. Age of the Primes Smokescreen is much better than his original Prime toy. The chest seats properly once you pull the arms out a little. Age of the Primes Ratchet makes a very good Animated Ratchet from the Trailbreaker mold, with all his tools stored inside. Don also got the Vince DiCola Artistic Transformations and Protoform Sessions reissues on CD, about $28 for both. Both came with autographed inserts he didn’t pay extra for. A Target Circle bonus got him Liege Maximo for about $30. He calls it dense, great-feeling plastic and maybe the best example of a Leader Class. Last is Bingo Toys’ Strafe for his Masterpiece-scale Computron, about $118. Strafe’s included Computron hand is as wide as Devastation Bumblebee. Don prefers it to waiting on the pricier Fans Toys version.

Matt

Matt got Swerve and loves the mold, despite odd color breakups in vehicle mode. He also got Powerglide. The robot mode is great, and lifting the weapon spins the face so the alien mask can attach. His plane mode tabs are more suggestions than locks, and the engines sit too low.

Rob

Rob had nothing in Transformers this week.

Brian

At a friend’s packed first toy convention, Brian bought Cybertron Swerve. He also got Powerglide, whose wing tabs lock firmly on his copy. He loves the robot mode, while the jet mode is only serviceable. He got Studio Series 86 Kranix and won’t transform it, though his copy was missing its gun. One host noted the mold could also give us Arblus. Brian found a box for a G1 Metroplex, making three boxed Metroplexes, and a boxed Cloud Rodimus. The star is Missing Link Ultra Magnus. His only nitpicks are a visible trailer joint and limited leg movement from the cab legs inside the armor. Otherwise it ratchets beautifully, and he calls it phenomenal. Kim also surprised him with a Zuru Transformers Gummy Yum Surprise, which he will open next week.
