RIP Peter Spellos, the Voice of Sky-Byte
Peter Spellos, the voice of Robots in Disguise Sky-Byte, has died after a battle with cancer. One host says Spellos followed him on Twitter and felt very real to him online. Don recalls a Spellos panel at BotCon. He says Spellos seemed amazed at how much fans loved Sky-Byte. [Source: TFW2005]
Super7 Transformers Ultimates Wave 3 In-Hand Images
The first in-hand photos of Super7 Ultimates G2 Megatron and Wreck-Gar have one host glad he canceled. Another says Megatron looks like someone in a G2 Megatron mascot costume, with an oversized head and glove-like hands. Rob thinks the reused original Megatron parts have softer detail than the new parts. Wreck-Gar mostly works, but the face looks off. The crew muses about a cheap Megastorm repaint. One host calls himself done with non-transforming Transformers, unless something he loves comes along. [Source: TFW2005]
Transformers HasLab Deathsaurus Official Unboxing
Hasbro’s official unboxing shows Deathsaurus packed in a shipper inside a shipper. The chrome parts are packed separately. The crew says Hasbro learned from Victory Saber’s packaging complaints. [Source: TFW2005]
HasLab Deathsaurus Official Comparison With HasLab Victory Saber
Evan Brooks shared photos of Deathsaurus beside Victory Saber. One host has never put his G1 Deathsaurus into its beast mode and probably never will with this one. Another says it is not hard, just unintuitive. One host jokes that the beast mode looks like Chicken Boo. Don would love a Red Geist repaint, but Brave falls under Sunrise and Bandai, so that is unlikely. [Source: TFW2005]
Transformers x G.I. Joe Collaborative Soundwave Dreadnok Thunder Machine In-Hand Images
One host thinks Thunder Machine Soundwave looks like a Built to Rule figure. Another blames the oversaturated colors, which do not match a grungy Dreadnok vehicle. Don is buying it and will sell the G.I. Joe figures to cut the cost, as he did with Megatron. One host says Soundwave is the best case for this boxy concept. [Source: TFW2005]
Legacy United Commander Magmatron Magmasaurus Mode Revealed
The first look at Magmatron’s combined Magmasaurus mode cools one host on the figure. He says the realistic Kingdom styling makes it look horrific. Another says the original toy’s back half connected more cohesively. Here, he says, it looks like a T-Rex wearing a caboose. A fan of the original looks forward to a version he can actually pose. One host explains that Takara designed Magmatron like a Sentai robot, from the combined form backward. [Source: TFW2005]
What We Got This Week
Diecast
Diecast got the 7-Eleven exclusive Masterpiece Optimus Prime through his friend Joe. With coupons and timing, he paid about $350, well under recent asking prices.
Don
Don got collaborative Frankentron to go with Draculus, and he loves the new accessories. He found the ReAction movie Ultra Magnus for about $14, which will stay carded for his movie display. In an Entertainment Earth sale, he got Super7 Ultimates G2 Megatron at full price and G1 Megatron at half off. G2 Megatron includes a comic-accurate head and a G2-styled G1 head. He calls it a big, imposing figure.
Matt
Matt got the retro reissue Skywarp from Hasbro Pulse. He now has all three core Seekers in animation colors, and they look magnificent together.
Rob
Rob’s pickups this week were not Transformers.
Chris
Chris got the Deadeye Duel two-pack, Javelin and Cascade, for about $35 in an early Amazon Black Friday sale. Javelin is his first movie Arcee mold. Its new rifle no longer covers the robot hands in motorcycle mode. Cascade’s colors are close to Chromia’s, and the Siege Chromia mold is showing its age with soft joints. He loves Javelin’s purple-blue and pink palette and its new visor head.
Brian
Brian hopes this is his last toy for a while as he downsizes. He got a vintage boxed, complete Sound Blaster to go with his boxed vintage Twincast. Because the Encore Sound Blaster and Twincast have unique cassette partners, he is keeping those too.
